The metal filters work fine enough but the problem is
I guess I'm just a paper person. The metal filters work fine enough but the problem is ... clean up. I have read the pro's and con's of this product and most of the negative reviews were based on cleaning up after you make a cup of coffee. With the paper filters, you either throw it away with the grounds or peel the paper filter off the compressed coffee leaving little or no grounds and with a simple rinse, they can be used over again. Whereas after using all 3 different metal filters I found that each one had about a 1/16th to a 1/8th of grounds that had adhered to the metal filter resulting in a lot of extra cleaning of grounds to contend with. I even tried turning them around with the same results.I'm not saying the metal filters are a bad product, they just don't fit my lifestyle. I'm retired. I don't need any extra work in the morning to save in the cost of buying paper filters.Being a true believer in the phrase "caveat emptor" I will not be returning the product or ask anyone for my money back. I should have read more into other reviews that had the same outlook as I do.UPDATE! Here we are one year later and have found that NOW I'm a metal person! LOL I found my grounds were not small enough. If you want to make espresso you need espresso grind Duh? ... "coffee dust"! Super-fine grounds is what I needed and sure enough, the metal filter just separates with ease with hardly any grounds attached to it. Who would have thunk?

happy with these
One day on a camping trip I'd forgotten my paper filters, so I had to make "cowboy coffee" instead of using the Aeropress. I thought, "Hmm, this tastes a little better than usual." So when I got home I tried these metal filters. I like them! The mesh is my favorite of the three; it's easiest to plunge (by far) and I like the resulting coffee.

mesh filter started coming apart immediately; newer seller has now replaced items
I bought the 3-piece filter set. Tried them all initially. The mesh one started coming apart at the solder points immediately, within the first couple uses. There are 12 solder points on the mesh filter. Initially 2-3 broke apart. But I soon decided I liked the Ultra-fine filter the best and was only going to be using that one.Unfortunately, the Ultra-fine went missing in the kitchen one day and hasn't been seen since. So I started using the mesh one again. In a short time, the solder points continued to break apart. Now 8 of the 12 points are broken, so the filter is being held together by only the remaining 4.I decided to contact the seller, E3 Studios, via correct Amazon procedure. They have failed to respond to multiple efforts, so now I am posting a review to let others know of my experience (in terms of both the product and the seller).***************************update, 3/5/20:I tried to update my review and rating last week, but it does not appear to have gone through. Not sure why that would be.After not hearing back from E3 Studios (the old Seller), I posted a review and tried contacting the new Seller, NolkCo. They did respond quickly and were very nice. Sent me a replacement kit for all three filters, not just the mesh one. So 5 stars for customer service from Nolk.Hopefully the replacement will last longer; of course that remains to be seen. Since my first effort at updating did not get posted, now I have about a week's use with the replacement. So far, it is holding up well (unlike the original, which had already started breaking apart at this point).updating my rating from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect NolkCo's great customer service. (still unclear why my earlier efforts to contact E3 Studios went unanswered — and whether or not Corretto, E3, and Nolk are all the same people/company.)If the replacement mesh filter continues to hold up, I will again update my rating to reflect that.***************************update, 5/12/20:after another 2+ months of use, the replacement mesh filter has continued to hold up. So far not showing any signs of coming apart like the old one did.changing rating from 3 stars to 4 stars.

Better than paper
I wanted a mesh filter and, at nearly the same price as other lone mesh filters on amazon, I purchased this set of three so in case I didn't care for the mesh I could try the perforated types. So far I have only tried the mesh, but I am very happy with it. I love my aeropress with the paper filters but when I used the mesh more oils were able to seep through the filter that the paper would have soaked up. It made an even tastier cup, which I did not think was possible.(slight) CON: It also lets a minuscule amount of mud into the bottom of the cup. It only builds up after the coffee has sat a while, and it's a small amount. It's still nothing like a french press, where you have an actual mud pit at the bottom of the mug. It's ALMOST not even worth mentioning. But more mud than paper filters.RECOMMENDED? Yes. I never have to buy filters again and I'm not just using a sheet of paper one time and then throwing it out day after day. AND I prefer the taste. I also think this particular product is nice because I have 3 options to choose from. I was bound to like one of these filters if I hadn't liked the mesh.Edit: I tried the 'very fine' filter and the two times I used it, I couldnt tell a difference between the mesh and very fine. They both work well.
