Affordable, reliable replacement
If your big box store bike came with a Shimano Tourney derailleur (chances are it did), take it off and replace it with the Altus. It has a working B-screw! The Tourney does not. I have several of these in service and they are bomb proof. Not for the weight weenies, but for the rest of the world, it works just fine.

2 of 2 Literally Fell Apart Mounting Them to the Bike
I ordered two of these to update 2 older bikes. I've used this Shimano Altus derailleur multiple times before. This is nothing like the real Shimano item. No joke, both of them literally fell apart just mounting them to the bike and then unmounting them because they both were clearly all bent up right out of the box once mounted. Yes, both were bent out of the box and both feel apart when removing them from the bike. The second pic is of the gap at the mounting point that should not be there. This is definitely a do not buy warning.

Not the best quality
This derailleur works fairly well, but the jockey wheel cage area was bent making the chain rub when passing through this area. It could have been made better.

The item came in timely fashion and was exactly what was advertised.
I needed to replace broken original rear derailleur on teenager’s primary mode of transportation - this product was better and it arrived quickly- so I could get kid back on her way.

Good quality
After my 1st one breaking for some unknown reason on my 1st ride, this one has so far done justice I've done 11 miles on it so far and it's holing up good. Might buy another just to keep as a spare

this one is better than the last one
this shifter has a smaller profile than the one I had on my trike, I also cut the mounting lug off and moved if forward on the frame, to give more contact, chain to sproket, itis also a litthe stiffer than the last one that kept bending on me. also haven't had any chain skipping, have over half the sproket seating with the chain. so far have almost a hundred miles peddled, and no issues. this shifter also shifts smother than the last piece of "junk" that I bought to replace the factory shifter,, which broke after 900 miles.headed for 3000 miles by the end of the year, at 73 years I need my exercise, 500 miles to go th reach my goal for the year, started riding the trike after my heart problem, been riding since april 2023.
