I’m 27 pages in and had to stop reading for a bit. According to the first example couple, the author claims the woman “felt raped” after the husband verbally abused her and physically intimidated her to the point she was cowering in a corner. She “let him do anything he wanted” after that.That is not “making love”. She didn’t “let him”. She was coerced and likely scared for her life. THAT IS RAPE. Marital rape is a problem in the US and elsewhere and I don’t appreciate the way it was sugar coated by the author.I’ll continue reading to see if the book gets better but will be returning it if the author excuses abusive males again.UPDATE: Twenty more pages and I’m disgusted. The advice in this book is outdated, sexist, and based more on pseudoscience than actual science. I’ll be returning it.

This was the second Dr Harley book for us to read together, marriage changing is almost too simple to describe the effect it has had.Though we have never met or spoke with the author, he has begun a work in us that will continue to grow.

I skimmed several marriage books before choosing one. This one seemed to have the most practical content for me. I’m glad I chose to purchase it. There is some really valuable advice that is relatable, practical and helpful. I read a lot of e-books, but I wanted a physical copy of this one so that I could highlight and make notes, allowing me to organize and understand the ideas better for real life application. This book speaks to both me and my husband in a very practical way.

If you are looking for a book to help you with you communicate better with your spouse this is a great resource. I also recommend He Wins She Wins by the same author. A counselor recommended the books to us. Buy the set, you will not be disappointed. However, like any self help books, both parties have to be willing to work at the relationship. it takes two to make a difference.

You only need 2 Things to make this book work!!! (1) is the book and (2) is a time machine. Then you can undo the mess you made of your marriage. Otherwise, this book is awesome and has lots of answers and solutions. I wish I had read this when I was 20 and not 35. My marriage is over and now I have to live in regret forever.

Simple but important foundations for marriage are explained in this book. Wish I had known and understood these 20 years as would have saved a lot of heartache.
