Classic Amazing Spiderman story, artwork is okay but not great
Great to see a classic Spiderman story again, this picks up from the amazing Spider-Man beyond storyline written by Zebb wells and ignores the MJ story done in previous work done by Nick Spencer pretty much. Makes it a little confusing and I do wish it did continue the story going forwards. Storyline is good though with tombstone making a comeback. It does bring back the story from peters roommate and his love interest, making it sort of a tie in to Spencer's work. I just really wish it was picking up exactly where it was left off, another complete reboot again. Now let's talk artwork, it has some questionable art and some great art, the cover is not to my liking and the proportions and style is really not great. I have included a photo of one of my favourite pages from the book where the artwork is great. I hope in vol 2, it takes more of this style.Overall:Great storyWished it took off from Spencer's workArtwork is questionable3 stars, hope it gets better.

Fairly good
The art was great, the storyline--well, good and even better if I read the previous stories. The book worked (sort of) as a stand-alone, and there were parts I did not have a background on. I didn't like how they advertised Doc Oc going after Spidey. He wasn't even in the book until the end, and even then, he's confined. A bit more blood on Spidey than usual. All told, fairly good read.

Odd angle to start but is saved by last act
I decided to jump on the relatively new creative team for Spider-Man. I've mixed feelings. I'm really not a fan of "6 months later" time gaps as it feels a lazy way of establishing a fresh start and the "mystery" usually means the skipped events need to be revisited. I also think the book has gone too far with the "down on parker luck", the guy is essentially suffering from depression and everyone hates him. Spidey is meant to be fun and either other heroes are acting poorly or he's done something unforgivable which isn't a good look either way. I was all set to quit the new run until the last act where it's revealed Zeb Wells has some surprises up his sleeve. Even better it appears he's really leaning into Spidey's street level heroics.Add in JRJR's art which at this stage must make him one of the most prolific Spidey artists there's been and there's just enough to keep me on board, for now.
