When I bought this thing I was worried about the paucity of previous purchasers' reviews. It's a lot of money for me to lay down and hope for the best especially since returning this item would cost a fortune. I found it at a good price and decided to gamble after seeing a Vimeo video on this item and was impressed with its' potential. I received it after a couple of weeks and after carefully unpacking it (it's big and heavy and you need 2 to do it safely) found the pizza stone to be cracked in half. I notified the parties involved and received it's replacement quickly and without hesitation. It too arrived in two pieces. The third one arrived whole but by then the weather was a mess and I waited till a couple of weeks to use it. I've only used it for smoking meat: chicken, pork shoulders, and of course ribs (pork and beef) and everything was great, very smoky and delicious. I noticed how hard it was to get the temperature higher than 300 degrees (too hot for smoking) for the pizza so I wrote the company and they were super helpful, e-mailing me back immediately and giving me tons of tricks and advice. I'll update this review with my pizza adventures as soon as I get a couple of pies under my belt (accidental pun, sorry).Update: Last night I cooked 3 pizzas. I have been in contact with the company as I mentioned and they gave me great tips on how to crank the temperature up for a nice blistery pizza crust which worked well. I was expecting the unit to heat up quickly but it took 3 hours which could be my ignorance or just the way it is. I have friends who have the traditional built in brick/stone/mortar pizza oven and it takes at least that long to get that oven going so I shouldn't be surprised. In either case, my third pizza was a winner. I'm happy with this this item and plan to use it as much as possible this summer.
