MARCH 30, 2021 UPDATE, 2ND PURCHASE!
The order stated 3 day shipping and it took 6 days, but more importantly FedEx delivered the box all tore up with bottom flaps wide open and the box of pedals lying on the ground outside of the main carton. The bike suffered several deep scratches that really bummed me out! I decided to live with it as I hate to send things back unless I have to. Other than that the bike is very nice at this price point and would have received 5 stars from me if it wasn't damaged, despite the slow arrival. It went together very easily, but did need rerouting of the cables which could not be completely untangled as well as some minor tuning. I also replaced the skinny rock hard seat with a super comfortable TONBUX seat that almost matches the color perfectly (best $20 I ever spent!). It rides like a dream on the rough dirt and rocky mountain roads near my house, the full suspension and big 29" tires really soak in the bumps, very smooth. I am very pleased with the overall performance of the bike so far, it shifts very quickly up and down and the disk brakes are strong. I am 5'9" tall / 185 lbs. and the bike has plenty of seat adjustment left, I would say it will handle up to a 6'2" rider, but not much shorter than 5'8" comfortably. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone that is NOT interested in hard core wide open down hill mountain trail riding. I am sure the bike can handle any trail at controlled speeds, but sustained high speed down hill mountain trail riding needs more bike than this, i.e. hydraulic brakes & better suspension, or in other words spending at least double or triple what this bike cost. At under $400 dollars it is a great bike. UPDATE: After several long rides on very rocky mountain roads and trails I just had to change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This bike is that nice, and it didn't seem fair to down grade the rating due to slow poor FedEx service. 18 MONTH FOLLOW-UP: Loving this well made Schwinn! Have many miles of very hard riding on it now and it is holding up well. Zero issues and still functioning perfectly. There is a slight amount of seepage at the front forks but that is normal. I have just about worn out the tires but that is after a lot of miles, most of which were ridden on rough rocky roads with zero flats. Overall this bike is a winner. Well worth the current price. MARCH 30, 2021 UPDATE: Just purchased a 2nd Traxion for my wife; after she borrowed mine she had to have one. This one arrived in perfect condition via UPS. Had to fine tune the brakes and shifters but that is easy. The people here having pedal/crank problems are causing the problem themselves by installing them dry and severly over tightening them. Put a little grease on the threads and take them down to just beyond finger tight. They are threaded opposite of the crank rotation and will not back out, and if you ever need to replace them they'll come out easily without seizing or galling. Great bike for the money!

Lightweight, smooth, somewhat clunky shifting but overall great quality.
This is a pretty nice bike. There is some assembly required but its just the easy steps. Quality is very good. The shock absorbers feel great. The shifting mechanism is a little clunky but does give you the gears you need and the weight of the bike when considering its size and the steel alternatives out there makes it worth the money over other budget bikes.

Decent for an entry level bike, don't expect it to be mid to high-end.
I got this to replace a $100 super store special, and for the most part, it's been pretty good. Assembly wasn't difficult and took about 30 minutes. Bike was adjusted and ready to ride out of the box. While it has suspension components, it's a very basic suspension. The front forks are pretty soft and not adjustable. The rear suspension, while adjustable, doesn't really change the feel . I'm 5'9" and I feel the frame is a bit large for me. Tires feel like they lack some grip in the turns on soft surfaces, but I'm still dialing in my air pressure. The brakes do their job. The gears give a good spread of options. The front derailleur isn't the smoothest, but works. I've put about 50 miles on it doing a mix of dirt trail riding, small rock trails, small jumps and street/neighborhood riding and it's handled all of those environments well. I wouldn't attempt to use it on any very technical or steep segments as it's not built for those types of trails. My only real complaint is that there was a frequent clunk sound from the rear wheel/gear cassette area. Support was not very helpful and even with sending them video of the issue, they said I was improperly using the bike (letting it freewheel when not pedaling). They also kept blaming other components (derailleur, chain, petals), even when I showed them where the issue was. Once I got transferred over to a supervisor, they immediately sent out some new rear wheel parts and that took care of the issue. In short, don't expect it to be a high end bike, and it's not a $100 big box deal. It's decent if you're looking to upgrade from a beginner bike to something a bit more capable, without spending lots of money.

Handled my volcanic national park like a champ
This is a great bike and comes a lot more assembled then I was expecting, I wish the front shock was adjustable but thatโs my only plight. Shipping took a while but corona screwed up a lot more then shipping times for everyone so life happens, when it finally showed up I assembled it in about an hour making sure to check break and gear lines that were already adjusted almost perfectly then toor through a Northern California mountain trail, itโs perfectly responsive and the shock system is super good to my deteriorating knees for everything that I put it threw. It cruises so smooth and effortlessly on pavement and itโs large tires handle large rocks and other sketchy obstacles with ease. I was not nice to this on my first couple rides cause I needed to know if it can handle more serious trails in my area without throwing me off a cliff which happens to people a lot more often in my area then It should but thatโs the risk of a lot of out door rec in a volcanic park. To some up this is the best bike I have ever owned and could easily go for more, for my time my money and my riding experience I would 100% recommend this awesome bike. The seat is awesome for a man and my boyfriend uses and enjoys it on his mountain bike but I have a female pelvis and it just doesnโt fit my body, no big deal I have a nice bike seat thatโs transferred to the original seat most seamlessly

Wasnโt bad at all. Few thing I had to do
Update still going. Got close to 100miles on it. Not bad at all. A few things I had to do. Adjust the back derailed. And had adjust the front brake. The seat Iโm not sugar coat it. Is rough on the bottom. And any down hill coasting be careful. I way about 220lbs and was a inch from maxing front forks. Other then that did well after a total of 10miles of a trail and climbing 900ft up in evaluation and back down. With some hills pretty steep. Still not a bad but for what u get. Did a 2nd ride on another mountain trail. Climbing 400ft. And doing over 9miles. Still holding up well. Had zip tie the brake cables etc as the plastic c clips stretch. So Iโm was hearing something rubbing my rear tire. Then found out what it was and took care of that. I expect few more things as I keep riding. But still not disappointed with my buy. Will keep editing and updating for more ppl know this product. As they did have some crappy reviews for a while.

Good bike for the price
The only issue that I found with the bike is the front shocks. It feels like cheap shocks as it makes a banging impact at the top position of the shocks. It should be a smooth bounce like my 20-year old mongoose mountain bike which still works. I would like to return it as this maybe a defect but it is too much hassle to re-pack everything and re-box and it is possible that it is just cheap shocks. UPDATE: 8/4/2022 I sent an e-mail to Schwinn customer support complaining about the front shocks. They sent me a new one. Arrived after 1 week. Installed it myself. Now my bike is perfect.

Not Safe
With the price-gouging going on for bikes during Covid, a Schwinn was all I could afford for my son who grew three inches this year. Seemed like a decent bike at first, but quickly the shifting began to decline. We live a mile away from a singletrack and it became obvious very quickly that this bike cannot handle daily trail use. Every other day, adjustments had to be made. Now, not even two months after purchase, it is unrideable. The derailleur actually bent and went through the wheel and threw my son off head-first. We replaced the derailleur and now it can't complete the upshift without holding your thumb down on the shifter until the shift is completed. The front drive side crank arm almost fell off and now won't fit on the bottom bracket spindle. The bike-repair guy wouldn't even charge me for a tune up because he couldn't get the bike working properly. So, now I have no way to contact the seller, I missed the return window, and I have a $450 POS bike that can't be ridden. Riding on the trails is the only thing that has kept my son happy during this turbulent time. Now I don't know what to do. I can't buy another bike because I don't have a job. Take it from me and don't waste your money.

Front forks are junk.
Now its squeaking, I lubed it and cant find the squeak. Lubed chain, suspension and everything. IDK what to do about it. The front shocks are junk, just riding on pavement and hit a little ditch and clunk. Loud. No adjustment available. I know the reviews didn't like them but I mostly ride roads and dirt not mountains I'm 60yo and didn't expect them to be this bad. Kids mountain biking are going to find issues. But I expected them to be fine for an old lady. Im hoping my old Diamondback hard tail front forks will fit, I wanted something that didn't jar my rear and back which this does perfectly. My Diamondback is over 20yr old and the front forks are still perfect and smooth. Still shifts fine, but I wanted suspension on the back. When you read reviews listen.. I didn't want to spend a fortune or buy someone's used trouble. Its a great bike from the neck back. Im just really disappointed in the front forks. I didn't expect them to be this bad.

Great bike for the price
The bike arrived very fast and only a little assembly to do and very easy. The gears change very smoothly. It's a little heavy but I'm very satisfied !!!

Not so great
Had bike for just over a month and gears donโt work proper and back wheel frame is bent and has a wobble. Thought getting a more expensive bike would be more durable but I was wrong. My 200 dollar Canadian Tire bike was better.

good decent bike
maybe a bit expensive but good simple bike. I ordered 2 and for one of them the front wheel was really untrue, I had to replace it (Amazon was amazing with this). unlike other bikes I purchased, I did not have to make any tuning/adjustments for the deralleurs - hope this won't jinx it. note: no water bottle holes.

Check the tires for ball bearings
The tires are missing some ball bearing and trying to put the tire on only results in a wobbly tire. Off to buy some ball bearings now... Grumble.

Gears don't change properly
Bike arrived yesterday, so I put it together last night, and attempted to ride it. The gears don't change properly, and the chain constantly runs on the chain guard. Tries to adjust the gears, but to no avail. I got it close but either the chain runs while pedalling l, or the gears don't move to the next sprocket when the trigger is pulled... I'm going to try again tonight after work, bit I'd like to talk to the seller a out this issue.... a brand new bike out of the box should change gears.... I think. On the plus side, it's a really nice looking bike... very frustrated with it though.... I sent this bike back, the customer service from both amazon and schwinn, were impeccable, so much so, that I'm going to order another one, and hope it's not defective. My fingers are crossed, and I'll post again when the next one comes.
