The Magick of Aleister Crowley: A Handbook of the Rituals of Thelema

I adore this book!Those who are interested in Thelema should definitely put this at the top of their lists. It is a must-have for all libraries as it not only provides a fantastic crash-course in Thelema (and the man who is Aleister Crowley), but it also is handy as a quick reference for essential Thelemic texts and rituals. A group of my friends considers this to be their Thelemic study-guide and I definitely agree with that sentiment.In addition to being a great little quick-reference, this book is handy for a couple of other reasons as well. It cleverly houses both the image of the Stele and The Book of the Law, making it a great little item for a beginning Thelemite's altar space.Definitely check out this book and share it with your like-minded friends! Take a look at Lon Milo DuQuette's other titles too. He is truly a treasure of our time.

I’m a big fan of LMD, I’ve read most of his books and have given them all 5 stars including this one. I’m also a big fan or Crowley, but this has some misleading info I feel I need to correct, for the sake of truth.First, in the FAQ section about Crowley, it asks, “was he a black magician?” and then claims he was not. Of course he wasn’t devoted to just harmful magic, who is? But it’s well known that he cursed many people. Curses are definitely black magic, and Crowley was a big fan of them. Next in the “did he perform or advocate human sacrifice” question it tells of some animal sacrifices, but curiously leaves out the cat and goat at the abbey of thelema... and the frog.These things don’t subtract from his esoteric genius of course, but I think it’s important to know the facts of the matter. Crowley could be quite sadistic and this is absolute fact which I’m sure Lon is aware of.So that’s my only gripe for this book. Other than that I highly recommend it to anyone interested in these things.

I reccomend this book to all students of Crowley or Thelema. Lon has written a wonderful volume that strips away the mystery of Uncle Al, and Thelema. Great Job Lon! I also reccomend his book "Understanding Alester Crowleys Thoth Tarot." The book reads well, and Lon explains all details, Good Job!!! I Highly reccomend this book to others.dop

Lon is an amazing teacher and makes very complex ideas easy to understand. His unique voice and subtle humor make the read really delightful. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in Thelemic Macick.

Great book to start with! I have some of his other works but found a lot of hard to follow. A friend suggested this one. Thank You!!! It makes a big difference and helps pull all the pieces together. The quality is terrific. Solid paperback, well made. A must have in any library.

I highly encourage anyone interested in this type of activity to purchase this book. Lon Milo Duquette has a unique ability to bring these concepts down to earth and make them accessible.

I was impressed with this book. It is really nice to have the important Thelemic rituals in one convenient handbook, with good explanations of each. I would recommend, however, that the reader have some prior knowledge of the work of Aleister Crowley to fully understand the material.

Duquette est sans nul doute un écrivain et probablement un magicien de talent, mais il nous livre ici des rituels « un peu brut décoffrage », car ceux-ci s’inscrivent certainement dans une progression « cadrée » au sein d’un organisme initiatique te l’OTO ou l’Astrum Argentum. De fait, on ne trouve aucune information à ce sujet et, parfois, il est difficile de savoir pour quel but ces cérémonies seront effectuées, certains commentaires sur ces rituels sont à mon avis trop maigres et auraient mérités de plus amples explications pour une éventuelle pratique

Anyone who is teaching, or perhaps studying Thelema will love this guide. It's written in a modern manner, so it's easy to understand. The perfect magick revision guide, as it were. Honest, open and full of information. The best book n Crowley's magick I have come across so far.

A great book to dispel the bloated misconceptions surrounding the man and the order. Insightful and well prepared. Easy to read.I recommend this book.
