Smartphone vidoes require better audio
The media could not be loaded. I am pleasantly surprised. This is plug-and-play. No apps or special drivers needed. Very easy.As a video guy, I have become increasingly impressed by the quality of smartphone videos. Because of this, I have been using my smartphone for videos more and more. However, audio is usually the BIG downfall. To fix this problem I picked up Pop Voice's wired lavalier lapel mic. This small microphone allows me to live stream from my Android (s7) to most any social media app such as Facebook and Periscope with crystal clear audio. It was important to me to better my audio beyond that of which the built-in microphone on the smartphone can deliver.Attached to this review is a video. Watch it and listen to the difference between me using the lavalier mic and when I didn't the difference is night and day. There is no comparison. I am very happy with the quality that this mic has brought me.About the microphone itself, the cable is 6.5ft so it's long enough to meet most needs. Since my arm probably isn's more than 3' long, that's all the wire throw I need. The built-in quality is great. It is an omnidirectional condenser mic. (Go do your own research.) The clip is sturdy. Once it is clipped on, it will stay. The microphone itself is small enough that most people probably will not notice it if you are on camera when streaming. If you don't care if it is seen or not, they give you a couple colored windscreens (i.e. yellow and red) which are fun. They also throw in an extra black one, which is very cool of them.Tips:It's usually best to hide the cord under clothing.Place the mic on the chest near the head-- it doesn't have to be too close the mouth at all. Middle chest area is great. If you are a heavy breather, you may attach the mic upside down on your shirt to avoid the sound of you breathing into the mic.

Good and Inexpensive Microphone
I’m always looking for hardware and software to review that compliments my Youtube channel. And, last week I found an inexpensive Lapel/Lavalier microphone for $9.99 that I thought may improve my Youtube video audio (Note: I received this microphone free from the manufacturer to review). I have been recording with two different microphones: either the microphone built into my Canon PowerShot camera, or an inexpensive stand alone microphone I plug into my PC for recording with OBS Studio when streaming live or talking technology on my channel.Unboxing the MicOf course, it’s a lapel microphone so it’s going to be small, and was packed in a small box. After opening the box, I found the microphone on a clip attached to a 6.5 ft cable, stored in a small black pouch with a small set of instructions. Also Included were 3 wind muffs and a 4 pin to 3 pin 3.5 mm adapter for use on your desktop or laptop PC.For the test, I plugged the microphone into the mic input of my desktop PC and launched OBS Studio. And, because I did not read the instructions, I didn’t know I should have use the adapter in my PC. For use on mobile devices, like iPhones, Androids, iPads or tablets, you don’t use the adapter. So, without knowing, I recorded my Youtube video microphone test without the adapter. To my surprise, on playback, the audio was great. Since the audio turned out well, I was a happy Youtuber. So if you’re looking for a low cost microphone, I recommend the Pop Voice Lavalier microphone because it sounds great and is inexpensive at $9.99. However, no audio specifications were listed on the instructions, with one exception. On the front page of the instructions, it showed a picture of the microphone and 360 degrees at the top, which meant it was an omnidirectional microphone. I then checked the Amazon listing and it listed that it was an omnidirectional condenser microphone with noise cancellation, but with no other specifications.

A very good and less expensive replacement option that works with almost everything
Bought this as a replacement clip-on mic for Go Pro Hero 7 black. The quality of the construction and cord length at this price point is unbeatable. The clip is metal (not plastic) and is extremely firm when clipped to even a wet nylon backpack.Have used it on Go Pro (with media adapter + included TRS adapter), but will not work unless WiFi (Connection) is shut-off on the Go Pro (*this appears to be a common issue with the Go Pro 7, so not really the mic's fault). Can use with either the Standard or Standard+ Input settings on the Go Pro, and it is very loud, though there is a slight static sometimes. Thus, 4 stars.Shipping time was excellent through Amazon fulfillment. Would still recommend this as an extra, backup, or replacement mic, especially when traveling.Pros:--Cable length is perfect at 6 1/2 feet, so can step away from cell phone, camera, or any plugged-in device without sudden disconnect.--Included wind-screen cover replacements are great and don't have to buy extras, especially in rainy situations.--The attachment clip for the mic is all metal and stays firmly in-place on all types of clothing/backpack--Also includes 3.5mm adapter from TRRS to TRS (need it for both PC's and Go Pro)--Verified works with Windows 10 PC, iPhone lightning 3.5mm audio adapter with iPhone 8, and with a USB-C audio adapter for Android phoneCons:--Does create feedback very easily next to other electronic devices.--There is intermittent static when using the TRRS to TRS adapter, because the adapter connection is not very tight.--Included wind screens for the mic not good on windy beaches or higher locations with moderate winds.--Lower bass sounds records a little muffled, like deep drums or other percussion instruments.
