USB C Hub, MiCar Thunderbolt 3 Type c Adapter, 40Gbs Thunderbolt 3, 4k@30Hz HDMI, Pass-Through Charging, 3 USB 3.0 Ports and SD Micro SD Card Reader for MacBook Pro 2016 2017 13” and 15”

This is a awesome product for my new MBP. My friend recommended this type of connector to me. It is a great idea to have one connector that allows you to connect a SD card, Micro-SD card, USE, and the charging cable. It makes it much easier to se MBP in a non-apple friendly environment.I don't have any experience using similar product since it is the first one I have ever purchased. But I do love it. One thing I wish it could improve upon is the SD insert is a bit lose.

This seemed great at first, but after some gentle usage it's clear that the hub doesn't stay connected well. I have my MacBook Pro on a stand, so the hub is hanging out in midair and the weight of even just the power cable hanging off of it causes it to disconnect. It's really annoying to plug in the power cord and come back later to realize it wasn't charging and my Mac is dead.

The MiCar Hub is an elegant product and ease of use for the Macbook User. I was able to charge multiple phones and connect my usb flashdrive with ease and not have to worry. My phones charged at a solid speed, and it did not drain a lot of battery life from my Macbook pro compared to other products that I have used. This is an essential instrument to every macbook user and is worth every penny. The Micar Hub also has a smooth surface feel and can fit in the palm of your hand, so you can even carry it in your pocket or put it in a side pocket when you are travelling.

This does everything, plus with the two usb-c plugs into the MacBook Pro it is solid, vs some hubs having only one plug to steady the device.

The main problem I had with this product is that the Logitech USB 2.0 bluetooth transmitter required for my mouse didn't work in it. If the mouse was LESS THAN 12 inches, in a direct and unobstructed line of sight it would work. Unfortunately, I use my mouse about 20 inches, in a direct line of sight from the transmitter, so it didn't work at all for my application.

I received the Micar USB C hub at Christmas for my 2017 MBP 13" . I have had issues in the past few weeks.The main one is connection. The slightest tug disconnects what is in the USB 3 port--wireless mouse, usb mouse, external hard drive. In some instances wiggling the hub shuts down the computer.The other issue is interference. I can't use a wireless mouse (Logitech 325) with a USB Mac keyboard. In fact, the Mac keyboard isn't recognized at all.This is an issue with the Micar hub. I ordered a different hub and the Mac keyboard works, and there is no interference or disconnection with other peripherals, viz. wireless mouse, usb mouse, external drive, or shutting down the computer.I like the features and size of Micar, but if the ports don't work, it's not reliable.It's past the 30-day return policy and it was a gift from my wife, so I don't know what recourse i have.Update 2/24/18Alex from Micar-US has been in constant contact with me to resolve the problem with the connectivity with the usb c hub.Micar was polite, considerate, and offered to remedy the defective hub.They honored my request for a refund rather than get a replacement.The hub just wouldn't work for me, but I give them 4 stars for good customer service.A company that is willing to go back to the drawing board to fix/improve their product is the kind of company to support.Thanks, Alex

This hub works just fine as a USB 3.0 hub, transferring files from hard drives and from SD cards with speed as promised, even with all USB-A and SD reader plugged in. I have problems with power pass through and thunderbolt port. It seems not working at all: No power passthrough, nor data. Be careful when buying, I didn't have a thunderbolt 3 device then so I passed the return date. I also have problem with the HDMI port: It works fine when it's the only device on the hub, but when I connect a USB 3 hard drive to the drive, it crashes. So it basically brings me back to Apple's adapter when using HDMI, which I found annoying. Hope to find a better product later.

Loved this item when I first got it. However after using it for about a month the hdmi connection started to be really sensitive. Even a light touch on my computer disconnected the display momentarily. After closer inspection the bezel around the hdmi port is not there. Really unfortunate as this seemed to be a great solution for my Mac.Update 1/28/17:As shown in replies, I was contacted about my dissatisfaction. Will update upon response.
