Works! Squatter has vacated the premises!
I had a squirrel get into my guest bathroom and hide in a place I wouldn’t be able to get him unless I removed the toilet… My local hardware stores had non-kill traps for $40-60! I found this one and figured to give it a try. It didn’t come with any directions but was easy to figure out. The size was great for a squirrel. It was light weight so easy to move around. I tried some walnuts and pecans because that’s all I had, and after a day of not even tripping the trap I ended up with a small piece of apple and peanut butter. I also made kind of a den by draping a towel over the side of the tub and over the cage because he wasn’t going near it before (yes I put a camera in there to see what he was up to). I was able to relocate the squatter, who I named Theodore, by using this trap so I’d recommend.

It does the trick!
The media could not be loaded. I would recommend taking a small piece of cardboard smearing it with peanut butter, adding a few black oil sunflower seeds from my bird feeder, and resting it on the “trip” in the back of the trap. If you apply too much peanut butter to your cardboard the weight of it triggers the trap. You can figure out by trial and error how much you need for the perfect balance to set your trap. This method also keeps the trap clean for when you set it the next time. The two pictures (one with the set trap and the other with the rat) are taken within two hours of each other! I caught a total of six rats within two days. And I realize my problem was solved when I started catching, chipmunks and sparrows.🤣🤣Another trick I learned was if I put a dish towel, size cloth over the cage after I caught my rats that they were much calmer, and it was easier to transport them off to their new home at “ the little cabin in the woods.” It also made ME calmer and more secure about holding the cage knowing that I wouldn’t have a frightened rat lunging at me as I picked up the cage. Everybody wins.

best trap
I have used a lot of different types of traps before and this trap is fantastic. I have three traps and almost every day all three have caught something. VERY HAPPY

Grid size is optimum but...
We had one small rat that entered our house, and it took us months to trap it. I had four traps in different areas of the house where I knew it frequented. One of them was this brand, two was from HavAHart. Another one was a HavAHart but it was too small and the critter was able to back out of it after it ate the bait. IMPORTANT MENTION: the size of the grid of this JGRZF Quality Rat Trap is perfect. The other two HavAHart traps were functional but the grid size is 1" square. If you search the internet, rats can easily squeeze through that size and this is what mine tried to do. However, it somehow got it's hind legs stuck under the trap as it tried to push itself free. And so, it waited like that for a few hours until I got home. It took me 2 hour of trying to coax it to reverse out after lifting the trap a bit. It finally did, but again tried to escape through the 1" grid elsewhere. I quickly put the trap into a huge garbage bag drove it a few miles away to an unkept area full of blackberries in the wild.

Trips with no animal inside
A sturdy, well built cage except it trips too easily. The link that catches the door is incorrectly bent. Couldn’t straighten it. I tried putting paper and other items into the contact area with some success. Caught 9 squirrels. But too much hassle dealing with it.

Be gentle.
I love chipmunks; and, I was not freaked out by one who scampered into my house in April, 2022.Have two cats who tried but failed to catch chipmunk for 3+ months. This furry fuzzball wastraveling all over my house; and, a few times over me. Unfortunately, most of the people whorent from me were not as calm. When one mentioned calling a 'Wildlife Exterminator' who saidit would cost $500+ to remove one cute chipmunk---Dead or Alive---I got serious and orderedthis very low cost trap. Once it arrived, I set it up, placed a spoonful of delicious, smelly, peanutbutter---'chipmunk ambrosia---on a plastic lid inside the this trap and placed this trap in a spotI knew chipmunk used as a highway. Less than 24 hours later, I get a call that the munk wascaptured; AND, NOT HAPPY. Very not happy. As I was not at house, a friend took the trap afew hundred feet from house and let the angry/unhappy chipmunk out. Since then, I think Isaw same munk come by front door and look like he/she wanted to come back in where wehad cat food, filtered water... I miss...sniff, sniff.

Catching Mice!
I LOVE this trap. The set up is super easy. I love the side clip to hold the door latch bar while you set up the food on the trigger. I have an older trap kinda like this without the clip to hold it open, so while I was setting up the food on the trigger It would slam the door on my arm. Also the trigger on this new trap is WAY more sensitive! Which is excellent! The mice I'm catching are tiny Deer mice and most of the time on the older trap they weren't heavy or strong enough to trigger the latch. Since I have only had this 6 days. I have caught 6 little mice! The bait I use is a Chocolate chip. They love Chocolate! I am very pleased with this trap. I highly recommend it.
