Catskill Craftsmen Heart of The Kitchen Island

We love our island! I put it together myself over 2 days, so no idea how many hours it took. I took frequent breaks to look at the videos one more time. The instructions are sort of confusing, but the videos are wonderful. I recommend looking at all of them before you start and then going back as you go through the steps. The other thing I did when I unpacked the box was to put post-its on all the parts to identify them easily during the assembly process. It is very sturdy and beautiful, especially after it is oiled. The fastener system was challenging, but once I figured it out, it was easy. Again, watch the video! I called Customer Service once and they are amazing...very friendly and helpful even if you ask really stupid questions. A great product, but allow plenty of time for assembly...it's complicated!

Very difficult to put together. Had to retake it apart multiple times. It would be better if the boards were labeled, like right front leg inside, etc. Once put together it is a little wobbly. It looks great & is solid wood. It is holding my microwave very easily. I would recommend that the open space below the drawer have more height. I had to find a really, really small toaster oven to put in there. I couldn't fit a regular toaster oven in it. Love the drawer- I'm keeping receipts from current shopping trips & coupons in it. With a little more work on the product , I can see this being a great product.

I agree with most other reviews: assembly difficult for this orthopedic surgeon, experienced woodworker. Directions were almost Chinglish in clarity. Definitely recommend assembly by two persons who play well together and marking the parts by name, side, and direction/location. Machining and fit mostly good with notable exception of side towel rack parts and drawer slides on mine. Sturdiness, wood quality and overall appearance and utility are good, and like others I am happy to buy USA product. A larger top perhaps with drop leaves would be nice.drsamgm Memphis TN

The cabinet is beautiful and sturdy. It has shelves on the side for spices, etc. The drawer hold a wide variety of utensils. The cutting board top is spacious and very workable. The assembly instructions were difficult to follow at times and left out steps here and there. Otherwise, wonderful product. Good price and quick delivery.

I just got this yesterday and geez the directions are horrendous! I finally had to look it up on YouTube! Apparently some guy is showing how to put it together in a three part series. I'm only on part two. Even he did n't say anything about extra holes? The guy wasn't a total step by step either. Get one and you'll see. Good luck. still trying to put this thing together! The wood is nice but I will never buy anything like this again. Usually I'm good at putting things together, but even in this case with the video it's not easy for the price.

Quality company but construction difficult.

I needed extra workspace in my kitchen. I have a large kitchen, but the layout couldn't accommodate a large island without interrupting traffic flow, so I chose this island. What I love most about it is that it is so well-made. The butcher block works well with my 1960's faux butcher block. I recently painted the dark faux oak cabinets a bright white and the whole thing is gorgeous together. The addition of the island is very practical and beautiful upgrade for my affordable kitchen makeover. The lower cabinet is a great place to put my heavy cookware and pasta maker. The towel racks are convenient. The middle open space is perfect for cutting boards. Overall, I am so very very happy!

This is perfect and so nice looking. Almost all of it is solid wood, just a few pieces of the particle board. The directions were less than steller though, very poorly written. You had to go backwards and undo things you just put together to do a future step. Besides the directions being horrible, otherwise in the end we are very happy. My husband did have to sand some of the boards done so they wouldn't scratch us. Still love the end result.
