Warning: Do not hang too high or leave gaps
This is a great product as long as you install it properly. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the instructions do not mention that a hawk can fly under the net if it is hung higher than the the top of the fence line. I learned this the hard way and lost one of my favorite hens.

Updated 2/2023 - Hard to install and easy to tangle
Update:This held up for over three years for us and still looks to be in good shape. It has some wear and tear, but seems okay. Or so I though - sadly tonight I came home to find a hawk had burst through it, killing one of our hens and leaving a hole about three or four feet long and about two feet wide. I have uploaded a photo, hard to see b/c it's dark and not well-framed, but if you count the squares, you can tell the size of the rip.I don't think these nets (or any nets) can last forever, and I have repaired this one before, so I am not changing my total stars, just pointing out that it probably got weaker with age and I regret I didn't check it more carefully. If I were to put up a new one, I would plan to replace it after two or max three years - I waited Really not sure what went wrong, but sad about my hen and wanted to let readers know that this net is not foolproof. I'm thinking that I will probably reinforce mine with something a bit thicker now. Another idea would be to replace the net more often, but because we have trees, it was really hard to put up....Original review below:I have mixed emotions about this net. See below:We just put this up, over two days, with three adults working as a team. We had planned out the way to hang it before hand and had installed 10 foot poles in the area. The instructions indicate it is fairly simple - forget it. This was NOT easy to put up.1 - we followed the step by step directions precisely and it almost immediately became incredible tangled up in the leaves and twigs on our lawn. (And we had recently cleared the leaves -the lawn was mostly clear). We stopped opening it up when we saw this. At this point, I literally thought I had wasted $100 and was just going to throw it away.-- Advice: Only unfurl and lay out the whole thing if you live in a treeless area. Every leaf is a nightmare to remove.2 - As we moved on to hanging the net, it tangled more and more. It got so bad that I almost gave up and threw it away (again). (My husband came out and took some funny pictures at this point - I'll plan to add them later.)-- Advice: Do not take the net out of the bag until you are literally hanging it, then take it out of the bag inch by inch and hang it as you go. (And, we found zip-ties were a more efficient way to attach it than the rope - although we used the rope in some areas too, this was mostly after it was hung, when I was snugging it all up.-- Also, working with another person or, better yet, two, makes this easier - it is a big net to manage, especially if (like me) you have leaves on the ground. Also, it's very thin and light, so it tangles in the wind as well as if you drop it or drag it in leaves or twigs. It also caught on some of the tree bark it came in contact with.3 - On the postiive side, we had to cut it to get around a few trees in the area we wanted to cover. I was a bit worried about how this would go, but it was actually easy and worked well! We easily stitched it back together with baling twine on the other side of the trees - it worked great. (I found the twine easier and better than the rope they provide.)4 - Once up, this net seems good. Fingers crossed. I'm hoping no other birds get tangled in it (as a few reviewers describe happening). More than that, I'm worried after reading the one star review of a customer who had a hawk come right through it and take a chicken before their eyes- this is awful! Like most people, we put it up because we lost a beloved hen to a hawk so... I'm checking the skies and trees regularly and really just hoping this net works to keep hawks away.I'll plan to update this in regard to wear and tear and efficacy.

So far, the hawks stay away from the net
After losing a chicken to a hawk attack, we purchased this item. We had no issues with it getting tangled during installation. Make sure you have a spot to support it about every 8'. It has been up for 3 months now. We have seen hawks flying around many times, but they move on. It seems like they want nothing to do with the net.

Don't let the set up deter you.
After losing one chicken to a hawk and the hawk returning with 6 mates on a daily basis for weeks, we invested in Hawk Stopper. Our dual run hen yard and garden is big so it took two kits to cover it. 6 months later it is still working. We are having our first significant snow since getting it. Other than shaking it every few hours it is holding up great. Getting it set up was a super giant pain. But once it was up it's been great.

Keeping predators out
I like that it was easy to unroll and extend over my chicken coop. It’s clear so not an eyesore

Not what I expected
Got hawkstopper because hawks were diving at my small dogs. Took netting out of packaging and was shocked to find out the netting is very thin...like kite string. I broke 3 sections of it just trying to get it untangled (Which takes a long time because it is all tangled). The ends are taped, but the corners are not marked, so good luck finding them once you start untangling. After 90 minutes of trying to get it untangled and spread out and damaging it in 3 places, I gave up. I may try again this weekend and see if I can patch the holes. Maybe it is stronger than it looks, but if I ever get it up I'm not sure it's going to last long. My yard is only 30 by 40 so I thought this would be an easy set up but I was wrong. Maybe I just got a bad one...other 4 reviews seem to have had no issues.

Well, so far so good.
Baby Yorkies- tiny little dogs. While I was sitting outside watching them play, a hawk came and sat on my fence. I got up to scare it away and it was NOT scared of me. After talking to the Vet. I decided I needed to make some type of visual barrier. I see how it won't stop a hawk if they want your pup or chicken or whatever, but they might think twice. It messes with my eyes if I sit up and look at it- so- so far so good. My husband covered our entire back yard with the net.

Up for 2 summers now. (Lasted 3)
Up for 2 summers now and the hawk netting hasn't broken yet. However the rope that it comes with has already dry rotted and needs to be replaced. the rope lasted a little over a year. We fenced off a small area out side the back door for our toy poodle. Covered that area with the hawk netting. I don't worry about our little dog going out his doggie door and into this covered area. I'll go ahead and make my rating 5 stars even though I'd like to make it 4.5 because of the rope. The netting so far is holding up well. We have hawks around all the time just so you know. I'll try to update when it finally gives out to give information about how long to expect it to last.UPDATE: Lasted 3 1/2 years. It's ragged in lot's of places but not completely. Will have to replace it soon & will buy this one again. I will use clothes line not the "rope" that comes with it.
