Days before Christmas in Edwardian-era Toronto, Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) is called to investigate a daring train robbery. When witnesses insist the culprit exhibited superhuman abilities, Constable Crabtree (Jonny Harris, Still Standing) realizes the robber bears a striking resemblance to the title character of his new graphic novel, Jumping Jack. As more robberies targeting gifts from Eaton’s luxury department occur around Toronto, Murdoch and his team are forced to consider the possibility that Crabtree’s character has come to life. As Station House No. 4 contends with the real-life Jumping Jack, Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig, Coronation Street) orders the formation of a police choir, and Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy, Durham County) tries to help two orphans who mistake her for a fairytale heroine. Can Murdoch and his team stop Jumping Jack from stealing Christmas?

More Heartwarming Than the Murdoch Mysteries Christmas
My son and I LOVE Murdoch Mysteries--and have all the seasons on DVD. When we heard they had TWO Christmas specials--well, of course we wanted them! After watching both this and A Murdoch Mysteries Christmas , I have to say that we both think that Once Upon a Murdoch Christmas is superior to the other one. It's exciting, funny, keeps you guessing, has cool effects (think Inspector Gadget!) and very heartwarming (ala Dickens' A Christmas Carol).A Murdoch Mysteries Christmas is darker--more like Halloween at Christmas. Quite grim--and nothing redemptive or "feel good" about it (although the acting, as always, is stellar). And it was great to see Brendan Coyle in another role besides the dutiful, virtuous, handsome Mr. Bates (Downton Abbey).Highly recommended!

Beautifully Done...Well Written
This is a beautifully done holiday special, featuring all the main characters from the beloved series [one of my all time favorites] Inventive story line and plot, really holds your attention and keeps you guessing. Crabtree figures significantly, he's one of my favorite characters in the series. This is very close to watching a slightly longer episode of the series, with great holiday costumes for all ! I have the holiday special [DVD] from 2016, it was pretty good but....this one exceeds it by far. A wonderful feature movie for this price. Highly recommend.

“I don’t want you leering at my sister!”
Another great stand-alone Christmas special for Murdoch Mysteries. This one involves a robber who pilfers Constable George’s character Jumping Jack from his newly published graphic novel (a comic book by any name). The villain in question is questionable indeed when he utilizes Inspector Gadget-like gadgets to steal from the rich and redistributes the ill-gotten gain to the poor.I liked this movie better than the first one, it was marginally jollier, and they actually spent more time solving the crime.

We enjoyed this and would love to see a few more extra specials by the Murdoch Clan.
Ok we are fans and this Xmas mystery was fun to buy right at the holidays. We replayed the last Xmas special they did too. And had just gone through year 1 through 10. It's not on our TV here in a rural area of MT so happy to binge once a year via DVD' sets. Thanks CANADA Sisters and Brothers for a lovely show to enjoy.

Lighthearted fun even with the various murders or crimes
I have all three Christmas DVDs. It's obvious that everyone involved is having tremendous fun in making these. I wouldn't recommend any of the Christmas movies for annual Christmas family viewing unless the whole family is versed in the series and enjoy the nuances of the characters, humour and appreciates these movies for the morality and crime that they provide along side the sentiments of the season.
