Nice but tricky to clean
The unsprouted seeds get stuck in the grooves. I think another sprouting methods might be better. If you don't mind this it is fine.

Drainage is perfect if you follow instructions.
After reading all the reviews, I was a little concerned that the sprouter might not drain satisfactorily. However, I followed a particularly long, helpful review explaining that the red drainage pieces must be placed opposite each other on successive levels. Having done this and soaked my radish seeds overnight, I placed a spoonful on each level. I added water to the top layer and watched, fascinated, as the water drained down through the levels. I did not put the sprouter in the dark during the day but It was in rather murky light for the first few days. Not much chance of sunshine round here. However, the seeds, undaunted by the weather, started to germinate on day 2 of the process and I harvested the little sprout plants on day 6 when they were mostly about 2 or 3cm in length. I had, by the way, moved them nearer the window on day 5 so they had some chance of greening up before I harvested them. I felt like a ghoul when I bit their heads off and consumed them but they had a happy (short) life and fulfilled their destiny. They were light green when i transferred them to a plastic box and tasted, unsurprisingly you might say, just like .... radishes. This week (about 5 days later) I am still enjoying them and will probably finish them today. I put some as a garnish on an omelette and the rest have been mainly eaten as a garnish on homemade rye bread sandwiches with cheese or hummus.I bought a hexagonal terracotta sprouter a short time after this one and it has peas in it at the moment, also doing well. I have probably chosen two of the easiest crops to start but it gives you confidence if your first efforts succeed. Some reviewers have complained of mould on the plants but I have not had that problem (yet). I keep a magnifying glass by the sprouters and confirmed that the white hairs on the radishes from about day 3 or 4 were, indeed, root hairs rather than mould, and a perfectly natural stage of growth. I bought some dehydrator mesh to protect against small seeds getting stuck but I've not had that problem either (yet).

Product okay - awful customer service
The product I received was mainly functional but had two flaws- the trays did not easily stack - it took a few goes to position each layer on top of the other without them falling through- one out of the three layers did not drain properly, meaning the seeds I put in that layer were wasted.I contacted the seller to ask if they would accept a return of the product because it was faulty (pictures were included) but probably not in a resellable condition as it had been used once and the box had been thrown away (I had not expected to need to return the product). The reply from the seller was ‘please return the item in the original packaging’ - ignoring the content of my question. I reiterated my question several more times and the same unhelpful answer was received each time until they stopped replying, meaning I am stuck with this faulty item. Conclusion: the item is poor quality, but essentially functional. The customer service should you need to draw on it is terrible.

Sprout easy
Started sprouting with mung beans and alfalfa. Easy to use. Sprouts grow quite quickly.
