Good history story. Author knows how to tell it. Enjoyable.
Not too many murds mixed up, so fun to read. A good hero in a good story. A bit of word smithing is needed to make this a really great series.

Make sure you are right and move a head
I felt I was watching the war and was actually participating in the war. A great book for civil war buffs, and I look forward to reading book two.

This Is My First Exposure To This Author & I Recommend Him To Western Fans. Enjoy!
This is the first book that I have read by Wyatt Cochrane.I enjoyed this storyline and the characters development.Young Jubal Cane is the protagonist in this storyline and I hope more stories are to come in this series.Jubal is only 16; however, the confederate soldiers needed a blacksmith and if Jubal would not have volunteered, his father would have been conscripted into the yankee army. This fast-pasted, action-packed story was an enjoyable very entertaining spellbinding tale that I really enjoyed.Folks if you are looking for a story in the civil war era that will grab your interest at the onset and continue to hold you from beginning to end, THIS IS IT!I recommend this civil war tale to family, friends, and others who enjoy this genre.Enjoy.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book very much. This is different from the typical western…action centers around a teenage becoming a competent man during the civil war. The beginning was a little slow, but the plot moved along nicely once the protagonist was swept into the south’s service as a blacksmith and then a hunter and scout. The characters were well developed for the most part, the dialogue was authentic and well paced. I was a little disappointed with with the ending as it seemed a bit contrived. But overall, a better offering than the usual western novel.

great read
Although I’m not fond of reading about the civil war, or any war for that matter, I couldn’t put “forged in fire” down. Well developed characters and an engaging style of writing. Here’s hoping there’ll be several more Jubal Cain sagas.
