I was hooked on day 1 (the Life Garden metaphor)
I love how this book is laid out in bite sized chunks per day – it immediately feels relaxing and very do-able even though there are 100 days of gongs! I’ve skimmed through the book and am committing to reading and implementing a new practice every single day and solidifying the practices I am already doing with some of the new perspectives and tips from Pedram.I was hooked on day 1 as soon as I started reading the Life Garden metaphor to help us figure out how much time and energy we have to commit to things – if we add something we take away from something else. You don’t overcommit and best of all you don’t stress about the things you don’t get done.It seems I’m doing well on some of the gong practices like gratitude, time in the sun and nature but I have room for improvement on the chunk time, doing nothing and listening to noise (and many more interesting looking gongs). So many simple and yet powerful reminders!I’ll be recommending this book to my community of anxious and stressed women so we can all benefit from the art of stopping time!

100 Days to a More Meaningful Life
Pedram Shojai’s newest book, The Art of Stopping Time, is a treasure trove of suggestions for reclaiming control of your time while moving through life more consciously. The 100 daily exercises – or gongs as Shojai calls them – includes practices from time audits (exactly like it sounds) to time with the stars. (the celestial variety, not Hollywood.) I jumped at the opportunity to participate in a test panel that utilized 50 of the gongs and witnessed firsthand how valuable these daily practices can be. When I re-evaluated my priorities (Day 1 – assembling your life garden) and started to “chunk time” (Day 13) I found that my productivity in creative writing skyrocketed. To my delight, it’s still going strong. The Art of Stopping Time is a treat to read - each gong is only two, shortish pages or less and the author’s tone is conversational; soothing. There’s no fluff, yet it’s thought-provoking and no-nonsense. As with all personal development, it does require action and commitment. :) I loved the book – five stars, highly recommended. It’s the one I’m giving for Christmas this year.

One of the best books I have read
I like this style of writing, you can always fit a portion within your day. I enjoyed many of the tips. Some religious concepts are inserted like facts, while sometimes the opposite happens, concepts are inserted to go along with mainstream liberalism. It is funny how many times taking 5 breaths into the lower abdomen technique is repeated. Sometimes too much.

I love this book
I love this book! It is printed and bound in such a way as to encourage frequent usage which is exactly what we need these hectic days. In 100 short chapters is a lifetime of accumulated wisdom that is easily applied to our busy lifestyles. These become short but powerful lessons that may be applied on daily basis to shift how we experience time from frantic to expansive or contractive, depending on what's required at the time. I especially like how Pedram is able to relate the lessons in a readily accessible manner that unites ancient wisdom to modern lifestyles in a way that is both powerful and natural. And how to use simple daily activity in a wholly new way that expands mindfulness, encourages letting go, compassion, wisdom, and forgiveness for self and others. Within our increasingly polarized lives, this gem of a book has arrived at just the right time! Get one for yourself and buy one for everyone you love! You, they and the world will be far better off as a result.

Inner peace, relaxation, serenity and freedom
Pedram has created a wonderful resource for those looking to improve their lives through practicing mindfulness. The Art of Stopping Time brings together the most up-to-date and helpful research and information available on practicing mindfulness in today's busy world. Examples of days covered include- Gratitude- Desk Time- Anxious Time- Dream Time- Digesting Emotions- Doing Nothing- Deceleration Time- Podcasts and Audiobooks- Time Audit- Setting Rituals- Social Media Day Off- The Rings of a Tree- EtcThis book is packed full of ideas and suggestions that anyone and everyone can benefit from. This book is sitting in my tea area and it's a great reminder to slow down and smell the roses every once in awhile.

My new favorite resource for parents at my clinic
This book is full of practical insights and tips for increasing the amount of things we can get done in a day, while experiencing less stress and overwhelm in the process. In my work with parents of children with disabilities, the issue of "not enough time" and the busyness of life often comes up. This is the first resource I have found that can actually help my patients and families develop new habits and ways of thinking about time, so they can reduce their stress and accomplish more of the things they want to with their kids. As a full-time clinician and mom to 4 kids, I have gained many helpful insights and tools to manage my time more effectively, and to really feel like I am putting my attention and time into the things I most value. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to recommending it at my clinic!

A precious gem of a book
I heard about this book when Chris Evans interviewed the author and thought it would be appropriate for a colleague. After reading the first page, and this paragraph in particular, I immediately ordered another copy for myself......plus another 2 for colleagues. "Time is all we have, and it's our most valuable gift in life. When we run out, well, the game is over. We can 'look' back, but we can't get it back." Wise words indeed.

Excellent book on mindfulness.
I enjoyed this book very much in the kindle edition and have given it five stars. I am reading it for the second time! I am able to change the font to suit on my kindle. However I found the print in the hard cover version which I am giving as a Christmas present as too small. I wish the hard cover version had been printed in a slightly larger font.

This book is a complete WASTE of time
I don't usually leave negative reviews but I feel deceived and ripped off. This book is a complete WASTE of time. There is absolutely nothing of relevance in it. No science, just a lot of waffle about obvious things that have no bearing the perception of time and how to slow it down. "Spend time in nature" "Make a list of all you are grateful for" etc. is worthy of a book on improving lifestyle but not slowing time perception. I would say the title is extremely deceptive. Try reading the works of Prof. David Eagleman.
