Worth more than 15 minutes of your time
This ambitious and masterful book is unlike any other existing written resource within the specialty of endodontics, or dental radiology. That being said, as the wide-ranging reviews allude, let the buyer beware. The well-vetted information that is presented may at first appear to an average dentist as being alien, absent practical value and annoyingly obtuse even. However, this is precisely where the traditionally narrow dental educations betray such a reader, in what should otherwise ideally represent familiar and comfortable material to those having earned doctorate degrees. To realize its full intent and impact, the textbook will require focused effort, additional resource materials and the multiple revisits commanded of a trusted reference. Only then will its practicality and true value become manifest. In other words, the intended target audience for this book will unfortunately require more than 15 minutes of time investment to be able to honestly and accurately review it as a worthwhile purchase.Unfortunately though, many of us are the victims of an express culture. Graduates from various expensive and increasingly diluted educational programs, having never gained an appreciation for the intellectual sweat equity required to pen such a worthwhile, scholarly tome as this. From such a deficit come the insecurities that sum in the dissonant and odd pairing of ignorance and overconfidence, culminating in derision for the unfamiliar. The American poet Henry David Thoreau, in his essay Walking, wisely opined upon our human frailties of mistaking information for wisdom, of our capacity for hubris born from limited knowledge, and of our incapacity for humility, as we don't often recognize our own ignorance. He wrote:"A man’s ignorance sometimes is not only useful, but beautiful — while his knowledge, so called, is oftentimes worse than useless, besides being ugly. Which is the best man to deal with — he who knows nothing about a subject, and, what is extremely rare, knows that he knows nothing, or he who really knows something about it, but thinks that he knows all?"Well done Dr. Khademi for this monumental and insightful work, and bring on the second edition!

gives you the tools to understand CBCT on an entirely new level
Very in depth and difficult subject matter but illuminates how cases can be misdiagnosed or overdiagnosed due to improper understanding of CBCT technology

90% is completely worthless
First off I was excited to get this book, i purchased this one along with a CBCT book geared towards implants. The books came and I tore into the implant book and was thoroughly impressed. Then i opened this book...the entire book is 5 chapters, and not kidding, 3 of the chapters have NOTHING to do with CBCT imaging of endodontics but rather cognitive perception of images... WTF? I had the book about 15 minutes and was hoping there was a redeeming chapter. Perhaps the 5th chapter might be worth a quick read but i packed the book up and shipped it right back to amazon. Poorly written, not concise and wayyy too much information that has absolutely nothing to do with CBCT interpretation and application to endodontics. Sorry to say it but this book is the worst dental textbook I've come across.

Do you want to understand CBCTs and related issues at a specialist level? The read this book.
This book should be mandatory reading for endodontists. Why?Because CBCT is very sensitive and useful technology that is changing the practice of Endodontics in fundamental ways. Therefore we need to have a deep understanding of it. Much of what has been published so far is superficial and lacking. For instance, there are well known technical artifacts associated with the attenuation profiles produced with CBCTs, is beam hardening and scatter. Well... there are also well known and studied psychological artifacts associated with our cognitive processes that are well known outside of dental imaging.Because Dr. Khademi has legit domain expertise in imaging he is able to bring some of this knowledge to Endodontics, and we are all better off for it. If you really want an increased understanding of this incredible technology and to see how deep the rabbit really goes... read this book. In particular, chapter 4 is one portion of the book that can bear multiple careful reads.

Required reading for Endodontic Program Directors, residents and all those who review CBCT volumes!
I recently gave a presentation at the AAE's 2017 Educators Meeting on "Teaching Residents to Read CBCT". This group was comprised of most of the postdoc and predoc endo directors. This textbook was invaluable and provided the framework, ideas and significant learning points for my lecture.John Khademi's book is an outstanding resource and amazingly well written. Some sections were not an easy read for me and took quite a bit of study. I've read the book perhaps 2.5 times prior to my lecture. I told the group at least several times how important this book is for every endo PD, endo resident and endodontist to read so that they can better understand what occurs during acquisition and reconstruction as they will better understand what they are looking at to minimize errors in their interpretation. This text is on my required reading list for my endo residents!

Essential text for the future of endodontics
This is not a light read, however, as an endodontist, I can say without a doubt that this is the best and most important book ever published in our speciality, and possibly in dentistry as a whole. We all owe Dr. Khademi a great deal of thanks for putting in the effort in researching and publishing these topics and issues, which most of us would have never even heard of otherwise.
