The book I now recommend to friends
I’m a veteran national parks traveler, and have visited all 423 National Park units (including the 63 “named” National Parks). So I tend to field a lot of questions about parks and which blogs and guidebooks to look at.This is the guidebook I recommend to friends for the Greater Yellowstone area. It’s well structured, making it easy to plot out a trip. It’s densely-packed with info, but still very readable. The guidebook is much more than a list of hikes and vista points and places to stay—it includes all the information you’d need to enjoy the entire region, from restaurants to day trips outside the park boundaries. There are a lot of nice touches throughout, and I’m a huge fan of the included maps. It’s clear that there was a lot of thought and care that’s gone into making it. That’s not surprising, as this isn’t Becky Lomax’s first guidebook. If you want one single guidebook to help you plan a great trip to the region, then this is your book.

This guide has it all!
Whether you want to spend a day, a week or a month in Yellowstone and the Tetons, this is the most comprehensive and easy to read guidebook you can get. It's straightforward with everything broken down into sections. It covers lodging, camping, visitor centers, activities, wildlife viewing, scenic drives, and very detailed hike descriptions. I wish we would have had this book the last time we went hiking in Yellowstone! The maps are extremely helpful, and the photography throughout the book is phenomenal.I also appreciated that the author included kid friendly activities and information about the junior ranger program, as we'd love to visit with our grandkids.Personally, the added bonus in this book, is all the information the author includes about the surrounding areas! We are always on a roadtrip when we visit this area, so having information about Jackson Hole, Cody, the Beartooth Highway and all the fun sights that surround the parks is fantastic. We will be using this book for years to come. And, it will be one of my go-to gifts for all my travel friends!

1-day drive suggestions ROCK!!!
Throughout this respectfully written and totally legit guide book, you will find pages chocked full of photos taken by the author, highlighted pages describing 1-Day Drives, detailed camping, boating, hiking information (and a few hidden gems)! When you can get to know and use this book, your entire trip to the Yellowstone and Grand Teton areas will be full of what you want and things that others may miss including National Historic Landmarks and behind the scenes BnBs!it is amazing! All the up to date details listed in each section... contact info/dates/times/costs ... when trying to find something, the table of contents and index work very well. I was a bit saddened by the paper quality in this particular Moon Guide as the text has poor contrast and the thin paper used diminishes the quality of the beautiful photos. This book displays excellent first hand knowledge, respect for land and environment, and will be a terrific guide for your perfect visit.

Great guide for short or longer visits
As a family we’ve visited Yellowstone several times, and have fallen in love with it. We would be even more infatuated if we had had this guide with us! No matter the length of your visit, there’s advice for getting the most out of your time there. Only have a day or two? Here are the must-see sights. Planning a 5-day canoe trip? This guide will prepare you. Because the book is organized by park regions, you can easily see what’s most accessible to you over this very large area. I really appreciated the clear information on safely viewing animals, as well as specific information helpful to lodgers, campers, hikers, boaters, and skiers. We can’t wait to go back to these parks and explore some of the things we’ve missed on previous visits! Highly recommended.

What a great Road Trip guide!
From recreation to accommodations this guide has it all. Whether you are looking to camp or stay in a rustic inn you can find the resources here to make your trip a success. You'll also find detailed maps. Planning is key as Yellowstone and Grand Teton are very popular in the summer. The guide separates each area of the ecosystem into sections including sights, recreation, accommodations (camping & lodging), transportation & services, and the best way to explore the Parks. It also includes background information - history, wildlife, geology - all key aspects to understand when visiting the Parks and getting the most out of your time there. Information about the gateway cities surrounding the Parks is also included. I would highly recommend this guide.
