Reliable yarn
I like Red Heart Yarn, and have been using it for 50 years. There are many color choices, and it is reasonably priced. It feels less soft than some yarns before the finished pieces are washed, but once it has been washed it feels quite soft and nice. It is easy to work with.

Great product. Nice color. Hearty. Affordable.
Love this line. It's incredibly versatile. Does not easily tear or split. It's not "soft" like a fluffy wool might be, but I disagree with the reviews that say it's "rough" - it's great for clothes, hats, blankets, dolls, misc yarn/crochet arts.I bought SWEET TREAT. The variegated colors are beautiful and have smooth transitions.I use 5.5, 6 and 6.5 needles with this line.Overall, very pleased!

Wildly inconsistent in texture
Did I get a bad batch or what!!?Ordered some skeins of retro stripes for the colors and I was pleasantly surprised: it felt nicer that what I remembered of super saver yarn.Heard that they changed the formula and it is now less rough..So I felt confident to order several jumbo skeins in Aran color to add to my retro stripes funky blanket project.Well… the Aran skeins were not workable at all. Neither of them. Horribly scratchy. Maybe I got an old lot. It is like wrestling with plastic twine. It is not even just rough, it is splitted and crispy. Like it had somehow melted. Then a few feet later, it is better…not great, just not horrible. Puzzling. Not sure if it is the treatment to get this color that makes it different but there is a notable difference between the yarn with the retro stripe colors and the yarn with the aran color. Bought both in Red Heart super saver to keep consistency in texture so…bummer!I am half way through my project and debating whether to suck’it up and finish, or to trash it and return these used skeins, not to be reimbursed but to have Red Heart dispose of them as nuclear waste. That is how frustrated I am about these Aran skeins. They are exactly how I remembered super saver, or worse. I had to say something.Sorry for the rant.Maybe it softens when washed, as someone suggested. That is my last hope for this project. Even the dog doesn’t want anything to do with it. Too scratchy. The retro stripes skeins are not scratchy and have fantastic colors. So there is that.UPDATE: it does soften a lot after a bath in fabric softener. Hurray! Project saved.

Beautiful color!!
This beautiful yarn is working up into an afghan with beautiful design, I love the colors! If yarn not soft enough for you, wash your finished project with a little soap and lots of conditioner. I use inexpensive hair conditioner! Works great

Nice yarn
Only complaint is that the Icelandic colors are much brighter than shown in the pictures. I had expected a pale baby blue rather than a bright turquoise. It’s still a nice yarn and works up easily.

Excellent price!
Red Heart wool is always good. This package of two large size was economical. I purchased three packages.
