Should be mandatory to get maximum amperage output from alternator ...
Should be mandatory to get maximum amperage output from alternator while PROTECTING the alternator from over heating and being damaged. Reason enough to install Balmar 619 regulators . Temp sensor too expensive and wires too short however.

Works perfect... wish it were cheaper.
Worked perfect. A little expensive for what it is, but if it keeps Balmar in business, I'm happy to pay a little extra.

Works but poor design
One star for terrible design. It is a basic temp sensor but the sensor IC is potted in the alternator connector lug and has a very fragile soldered connection to the cable which runs to the regulator. If you bend that cable the wrong way anywhere near the lug it will open the soldered connection to the sensor IC and your 50 bucks is up in smoke because it is impossible to repair. There has got to be a better way. Perhaps not a better way to make money but certainly a better way to fabricate a reliable temperature sensor.I am on my third sensor over 14 years. Sounds pretty good until you realize this is a completely static part
