The Whistling: The most chilling and spine-tingling ghost story you'll read this year

Absolutely loved this book, read it in two sittings. I only stopped reading it because it was getting late and I was scared reading it at night😆 so had to finish it off during daylight hours!It's the perfect ghost story, atmospheric Scottish island in the middle of nowhere, twists and turns galore to keep you guessing. Haunting lullabies, creepy dolls and eerie whistling, dark deserted rooms in a spooky old house.Right at the start I was already shouting at the main character Elspeth to turn round and head back to the mainland while she still could!! Before you know it your drawn into the story and there's no stopping once you start, you've got to let the mystery unfold.

This was a compelling read with an amazing twist, great characters and visualisation. Would recommend to any ghost story fan. A brilliant debut novel and look forward to her next publication.

It's rare to find a ghost story novel where the tension is sustained throughout, but this writer has succeeded. Once you settle into the Jane Eyre-type writing style, beautiful descriptions of the island and sea almost make the landscape a character in itself. My only gripes, the heroine has one too many headaches and the all-is-relieved chapter was a little too fast.

A gothic horror story with a difference. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Reeled me in from the first couple of pages.

This book was most enjoyable. A good, old fashioned ghost story that is both thrilling and atmospheric with a good balance of mystery and creepiness.

What an absolutely fantastic book. One of the best ghost stories I've read in a long while. Rebecca Netley is an excellent author and her book kept me rivited to the very end. A must read book for those who like well written stories of the supernatural. Ten out of ten.

I absolutely loved this book, beautifully wrote with so many twists and turns. You really feel like you’re there in the book. I read in a space of 3 days I could not put it down. Can’t recommend enough

I quite enjoyed this book, definitely creepy and had to put it down one late night as I thought I might not sleep. I like being a little scared once in a while.
