Bio Mimicry for first grade
I LOVED this book! I am developing an architect unit for form and function of structures, looking to nature for architectural inspiration. Bio mimicry is a next generation science standard that kids love to explore. This book gives a clear view of Zaha Hadid and how she was inspired by nature and always saw nature as structures. Her challenge is getting engineers on board to attempt to build the designs she created. It is perfect for my first graders.

Elem art teacher
As an elem art teacher, I’m alwayd looking for artists other than white men to teach about. I was so excited to see a book I could share with my students about Zaha Hadid! The story was simple and the big ideas about her thinking were clearly presented in a way for my 2nd graders to grasp and get excited about. They LOVED this book and so did I!

A hit in my classroom!
Beautifully written and inspiring to my second grade students. I only wish that pictures of the real buildings she designed were included in this book. My students asked to see pictures of the real structures and once I looked them up, we saw how incredible they truly are.

Great text and pictures
The text is simple yet meaningful and the pictures are thought-provoking. I’m so happy I purchased this one. I’m always on the lookout for books about women in unexpected roles and about people around the world. This hits both.

Inspiring book about the life of this brilliant architect!
This book tells the story of Zaha Hadid, the brilliant Iraqi architect that had to overcome many difficulties to be taken seriously in her field. She is a woman, born in an Arab country, and her architectural style was very misunderstood in the beginning of her career. But she persisted and became very famous, winning several prizes, including the British Royal Gold Medal for architecture. There are so many things I like about this book! Zaha Hadid’s story is so empowering, so full of passion and resilience! And the illustrations are just stunning! My 4yro and I have a great time discussing the illustrations, the curves, the colors. The only thing I missed in the book was actual pictures of Zaha Hadid’s work. At the end of the book there is a small biography but not real photos of her projects. However, this is still a spectacular book to get to know the life of this brilliant woman!
