MARATHON Mechanical 60 Minute Wind-Up Timer (White)

I bought this timer to get a reasonably tough and cheap timer to help my toddler understand when playtime was over - it works really well with two important caveats. First, the bell is nice and loud (and sustained) if you turn the dial at least halfway, then back, before setting. Turning the dial is the way the spring is wound - and the spring is what drives the chime. So if you only turn it to, say, 5 minutes, that’s not going to store much energy to ring the bell. The second caveat is that it seems to ring about a minute earlier than you’d expect. This isn’t an issue once you know that it will do so and it’s very consistent, but something to remember as you’re setting it.Other than those two caveats, this is a great timer, easy to use, easy to read and has already survived a few bumps and falls - and seems likely to survive quite a few more.

I bought this to replace a similar timer. I like the design and it works well. Just wish the ring was either louder or longer, it's not quite as good as the timer it replaved.

I wanted a good quality timer for the kitchen. This one looked ok and was a low price. However, It stopped working in a very short time. I am disappointed and will now need to purchase a new timer at a kitchen store😳.

I like these simple mechanical timers and use them for all kinds of reminders at home. My last one, of a different brand, had just died and this is a fine replacement for it. I don't expect these to last forever due to the way the mechanics work, but this one works perfectly and I suspect it will for years. I have already used it several times in the few hours since it has arrived. Update: 2 days later: I dropped this new timer into a big pot of hot tea, fished it out and set it up to dry out. It still works perfectly!

The Marathon timer is a little different than my old Sunbeam timer. In order to set the time I have to turn the dial all the way to 60 minutes and then turn it back to the desired time. It's no big deal but it's something that I didn't have to do with the Sunbeam. The bell rings nice and loud and is sure to get your attention. I recommend this timer. It's well made and should last a long time.

This item is like a toy. It will break in matter of months, if not weeks.

Buzzer is loud enough to hear from the other room. I wish it buzzed a bit longer though. It buzzes 3 or 4 seconds.

This feels a bit flimsy - not like the solid timers I have had in the past. To be expected at a reasonable price in this day and age, I suppose.I wanted a manual timer, to avoid relying on batteries, and this does solve that part of the problem.Unfortunately, it doesn't "time" extremely well. As others have noted, it seems to go off randomly a few minutes before the actual specified time. This is fine if it's a reminder to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer, less good for time-critical things.So, for my purposes, not so awful I returned it, but I would not buy it again.

The timer is easy to use and has a nice loud ring. THe price is very reasonable but if you need to add another minute or two, I don't think it is accurate.
