A very interesting read
I have not read many books on spirituality or consciousness and I was quite impressed by this one. The book starts by drawing on the personal experience of the author and gives examples of his own interactions with the metaphysical. This is the background of the author’s continued interest in the sphere of consciousness and studying mental faculties beyond the known limits. The book is an interesting attempt to elaborate the world of meditation and untapped capacity of the human brain by pushing beyond the limits of natural sciences. The book delves into traditional knowledge systems and shows that we can reach our potential by systematically undertaking mental exercises and experiments. Written in a lucid style, the book is easy to follow. Also adequate examples from the author’s own experience makes it very easy to relate to.

Interesting read
The book starts by building a simple hypothesis of reality based on the ancient Indian texts and known scientific principles. It then takes the reader on a thirty-year journey to evaluate this hypothesis with scientific rigor. The author encourages the reader to think outside the box and consider the possibility of a new science that uses different methods and measures to study consciousness. What sets this book apart is its balanced approach, acknowledging the strengths and limitations of both Western science and Eastern mysticism. The author believes that the Eastern mystics have spent lifetimes contemplating the deeper concepts, but perhaps not done enough to bring a clear picture that reflects practical wisdom to the masses. On the other hand, the West has merely touched the surface, using occasional meditation to calm the mind and yoga as a safe option to maintain physical health. The book presents a new way of thinking about consciousness, challenging the reader to consider that all other instruments are too blunt for studying it, and perhaps studying consciousness requires leveraging consciousness itself. The author also suggests that we need to rethink the very nature of science to incorporate consciousness and other non-physical phenomena.

Eye opening and Makes you think
Ever found yourself pondering the big questions about existence, the universe, and what lies beyond our physical realm? Well, I've just dived into a book that's not just another philosophical musing or a dry science read. It's a fascinating blend of Eastern spirituality and Western scientific discipline, and let me tell you, it's quite the journey. The book kicks off with a bold hypothesis, intertwining ancient Indian texts with established scientific principles. What follows is a thirty-year expedition, not in the physical sense, but a deep, introspective one. The author rigorously tests this hypothesis, challenging themselves and, in turn, challenging us as readers. What I really appreciate about this book is its approach to consciousness and existence. It's not just about reading and nodding along. You're invited to think outside the box, to question the conventional limits of physical laws. The author suggests we might need a whole new science to understand consciousness, something beyond our current methods and tools. Think of it like needing an electron microscope to see atomic particles - our standard instruments just aren't cut out for this kind of exploration. The book does a great job of critiquing both Eastern and Western approaches to understanding our minds and the greater universe. On one hand, it points out how Eastern mystics, with all their deep contemplation, haven't quite managed to make their profound insights accessible or practical for the masses. On the other hand, it observes how the Western world often treats meditation as a mere stress-relief tool and Yoga as a fitness trend, barely scratching the surface of their true potential. What's really cool is how the book aims to bridge this gap, shining a light on the vast possibilities that lie between the mystical East and the scientifically-driven West. It's not just about reaching a state of calm or maintaining physical health; it's about exploring the untapped potential of our consciousness. In short, this book is a thought-provoking read that pushes the boundaries of how we view science and spirituality. It's perfect for anyone who's ever wondered about their place in the universe or is curious about what lies beyond the material world. So, if you're ready to embark on a unique intellectual adventure, this might just be the book for you.

Fantastic book, inspirational, insightful, written by one who has experienced what he writes about
I like books by authors written from their own life experience – it really adds so much more validation than just research and theory and makes the book more ‘relatable’ and what they did more ‘achievable’.What differentiates this book from many other spiritual books is that the author demonstrates spirituality by relaying his own and family life experiences throughout the book, to demonstrate principles. This makes it a fascinating read and make you want to keep reading the next chapter……and the next….I really liked the background colors to each page and the beautiful images interspersed throughout.I will be trying out the meditations – the advice given by the author from his own experiences is really helpful, for example his approach to dealing with unwanted intrusive thoughts.Would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in this field, you will not only learn a lot but enjoy the read!

It challenges readers to think beyond conventional frameworks and paves the way for a new science of consciousness. A compelling exploration of possibilities often overlooked between eastern mysticism and western scientific approaches. Highly recommend.
