Works fine; throws off adequate heat; but definitely for a small place
This is as described --- a small patio heater - but that means for a small area -- not that it is small. It's short. Works great on my small patio. I live in the Phoenix area where it gerts nippy in the evenings and mornings and this makes it comfortable to sit outside. But if someone has a larger area, they should buy the big one. Not sure why this is called a "table top" because I would never put it on a table. It's bulky and has that large top. But it's light enough to move around. so when I'm through outside, I just move it to the corner out-of-sight. There was a little issue with how to start it because the instructions that came with it were confusing and left out a step. But common-sense on my part prevailed and I got it going. It uses the little propane tanks that you can buy anywhere - usually come in sets of two. It definitely meets my needs.

Nice little outdoor heater
This is a nice little heater. I live in So Cal, and it never really gets too cold here. I got it for my patio, to put on a table for outdoor events. It was easy to set up, even I could do it. The package arrived un-mangled, and all parts were present. Ii read the directions, and though they were a little confusing because the pics were black and white, i figured it out in about 30 min total time from opening the box to starting the heater. I did have a little trouble starting the heater. When starting the heater, the knob is supposed to be turned to the pilot option, AND pushed in while the ignition button starts the fire. This gave me about 10 min of trouble as I've never turned one of these things on before. Now I am a pro and will be using this heater during the holidays. It does not take up too much space, and can be in the middle of a conversation without disrupting the conversation.

DOA, but hey, they sent me a new one fast
The packaging was acceptable as were the quality of the parts. Took about a half hour to carefully put it together. I like the look of it and it seems to fit our needs for our small 6x10 upper level of the deck, I set it on a small metal outdoor table (like a night stand in wrought iron), as it seemed to dominate our 3X5 foot table.....but I also got one with no gas flowing through the regulator. I contacted the manufacturer and they got back to me promptly and reminded me to hold down the pilot knob longer than is explained in the manual and this did help purge air out of the system and get the pilot light to come one. Unfortunately it did not start up the burner. When I recontacted them, they were again prompt and offered to send me a new one. I will see how it goes, but I upgraded my rating from one to three stars for standing behind their product. I will keep updating as I try to get a working one. UPDATE: The new one arrived and this one works well. As I assembled it I was more impressed than I remembered with the quality of the stainless steel and its weight. It heats a small six foot circle area nicely and, more importantly doesn't take over our deck or pose the fire hazard that a larger one would. So I give them a full five stars now. I added a Mr. Heater 75,000 BTU 12-Foot Propane Hose Assembly #F273702 which connects easily to this unit and allows it to run off the usual large propane tank that I use for my gas grill (and that larger deck heater use) instead of using those small camping propane tanks. The other benefits are that I can then keep the large tank under the deck and out of sight, save money on propane, and not worry about changing the tank very often. The base of the unit has a notch that allows for the line. I ended up using a short table next to my chair about two feet high as it sets the heater right at my head height when sitting, but with the extra propane hose length I can also pull it up onto our dining table for more people.

Electric works 2X better
Two issues: quality control and performance As others have said, the quality control is lacking. In my case, the bracket that is spot welded to the burner was welded on crooked, causing the burner to be tilted, causing one side of the unit to put out more heat than the other. I was able to place shims under the bracket where it mounts to the housing to correct this. See pics. But the heat output is far lower than I had expected. I had expected that since 10,000 BTU == 2930 Watts, that this would be about twice as powerful as a 1500 Watt electric heater. But one of those umbrella-pole-mounted 1500 watt heaters gave twice the temperature rise as this propane heater. I tested it using one of those infrared thermometers: I measured that this heater increased the table's temperature by only 10 degrees; a 1500 watt pole-mounted electric heater increased it by 20 degrees! FYI, using a bigger, external propane tank doesn't change the power because the heater has a pressure regulator. And I was using a 20-lb external tank. A larger tank just runs longer at the same power. So unless you can't run an extension cord, or you have many tables to heat, I'd go with the pole-mounted electric heater instead, like the one in this link: https://www.amazon.com/AZ-Patio-Heaters-Electric-Parasol/dp/B004LTYPYS/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1AC3O1ZO8FYOA&dchild=1&keywords=electric+umbrella+heater&qid=1606481195&sprefix=electric+umbrella+hea%2Caps%2C177&sr=8-6

Worthless product, and worse support
Product is not packaged well, you can count on the heat shield being dented upon arrival. Workmanship on product slightly less than one would expect from an 8th grade shop class. (my apologee to 8th grade shop class students/teachers) Although parts don't match exactly with instructions; with a little work you can put this together. Mine doesn't work. No gas through regulator. But hey, this kind of thing happens right? Just a quick trip to the manufacturers website for information on a spare part or service. Good luck. A click on the "Live Chat" returns an "Offline" response. Try and send a message on the "Contact Us" page and you'll get a response "Too Long" No phone number is provided. A note to 'Fire Sense' (the manufacturer) If your business plan is to provide no customer service, skip the "Contact Us" page on your website. Awful product, awful company. Stay away or you'll get burned. (get it, it's a heater)

Works well, kept us warm on a 45 degree evening.
Bought this for our porch. It's taller than expected but worked well. We put it on a small side table on the low setting and it kept 4 of us in light jackets, warm on a 45F evening. We sat around a table so we were maybe 3-4 ft from it. You won't be sitting next to it in shorts and sandals. If you have a lot of wind, it's probably not going to work well. Decent (not great) built quality. It seems the proper option for a patio like ours is the IR tube heaters wall mounted. They are prohibitively expensive for ones that don't fail constantly. This was a great alternative.

Great Heater for a Table of 4!
I ordered a portable outdoor heater last week (which puts out 1000BTU) for my new outdoor canopy tent with a table and 4 chairs. Well, that thing didn't work too well so I returned it and got this one, which is rated for 10,000 BTU. I am really loving this heater as it warms up my table and tent perfectly, in fact it gets a bit too hot at the highest setting. This outdoor heater is adjustable, comes with a pilot setting for lighting it up, electric-piezo light, and is pretty well made. It isn't the most luxurious table heater in the world but for the price you pay (I paid like around $99), this is the best outdoor table heater for a small table or tent. Finally I don't have to let the cold weather (here in San Francisco) stop me from going to my backyard (which is 300 yards from the beach). Highly recommended.

Good so far, provides decent warmth, bigger than imagined
I just finished installing this with my husband. It wasn't too complicated and it took us about 25 minutes total. It's actually bigger than I imagined (it looked almost handheld size to me in pictures). It's probably the size of a very thin 3 year old child wearing a large sun hat. lol I ordered a 4' hose adapter as other reviewers recommended so that I could use the 20 lb tank instead of the 1 lb. I had a little difficulty opening and closing the cover where the 1 lb tank goes. I think the heater's body was poorly designed in this aspect. Overall, I'm quite pleased with my purchase and haven't had any issues with it so far. I will update my review in the future if I start to have any problems with its functionability.

Need to follow the manual to get it to light or it won’t work.
Just got it seems to work fine so far

Hola buenas noches! El calentador que compré con ustedes no contiene en el instructivo qué tipo de tanque de gas lleva no como se conecta en su caso. Agradeceré su amable orientación. Atte, Rodolfo
