Comprehensive guide to the Masters of the Universe franchise, covering over 4,000 entries on characters, beasts, vehicles, locations, weapons, and magic. Review: A universe of information. Masterful! - 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: A character guide and world compendium', is an indespensible and comprehensive guide to all things related to the worlds of He-Man and She-Ra, from the debut of the franchise in 1982 up until current day, across all publishers and covering the comic-book, animated, and film franchises, totalling 700 pages and thousands of illustrated entires, all bound in a magnificant, glossy UK magazine-sized hardback volume. The book is divided into the following sections: Chapter 1: 'Characters'. All of the characters, from well known favourites such as He-Man and Skeletor, to the utterly obscure. Each entry includes a biography, history, and information on things such as weapons, powers, and skills. Chapter 2: 'Beasts, creatures, and monsters'. The animals and other fauna of the worlds of Eternia and Etheria, including popular characters such as Battle Cat, Panthor and Kowl. Chapter 3: 'Factions, organisations, species, and races'. Including the many humanoid races and heroic and evil factions of the He-Man franchise, such as the Snake Men, Sea People, and Skeletors Evil Warriors. Chapter 4: 'Artifacts, devices, and weapons'. Magic items, weapons, and fantastic technology, including the likes of Skeletors Havoc Staff and He-Mans Sword of Power. Chapter 5: 'Spells and magic'. Elixirs, curses, spells, and magical tomes. Chapter 6: Locations. From Eternia, to Ethenia, to Earth, Castle Greyskull, Snake Mountain, and everything inbetween. Chapter 7: 'Vehicles and Transportation'. Including iconic battle machines such as the Attak Trak, Battle Ram, Dragon Walker, and Starship Eternia. The book is by far the most definitive volume of its kind, beautifully presented, and an encyclopedic tome of knowledge that is absolutely essential for any serious fan of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Recommended! Review: Perfect? No. Excellent? Yes. - Any fan of He-Man and She-Ra would be glad to own this tome, a near-comprehensive guide to all incarnations of the property over the last 35 years or so, covering characters, creatures, locations, vehicles, magic, technology, and, well, just about everything. There's even a fold-out section just after Grizzlor's entry that details the pretty convoluted family trees of some of the main characters. I just got through reading the whole thing, and I also checked out what other people were saying on fan forums and suchlike. And, yeah, there are a few omissions, some errors in spelling, a few pictures under the wrong entries, and other small errors, but it's still a bloody good book packed with amazing amounts of information from all over the world.

The best source of MOTU information in existence.
Outstanding work on behalf of the author, collecting summaries for every single character, ship, monster and location, however minor, from every different source and timeline, be it the original cartoon, the terrible live action film, even the mini comics that come with the toys. Where characters have appeared in multiple contradictory timelines, it gives summaries for each one and every entry lists the sources they have appeared in. Obviously some of the very minor characters only get a few paragraphs, whereas the more major characters get a page or two, and every entry contains an accompanying picture. A very worthwhile purchase, containing everything you needs to know about MOTU.

Beautiful book for all MOTU fans!
Amazing book, very through and beautifully out together. A must for any fan of He Man and She Ra. The beasts and weapons etc should have been omitted in favour of giving more space to the characters however, they take up a lot of room and it's such a shame to see storylines and artwork missing for some characters when there's endless pages of info that barely anyone will find interesting about a shield or a crystal. Also, some of the images used for characters seem to be low res or scans, which seems crazy when there are so many of the artists involved so present in the community and easily contactable for hi res versions. That said, it's a great book and credit to everyone involved for their extensive research and content, brilliant job.

Check out the pics!
I held off buying the book for ages, as I was uncertain to the content. Therefore I’ve attached a number of pics of the types of content included on characters, locales and machines from the Masters universe. I’m only giving four stars as I wish they’d separated MoTU and PoP sections and, frustratingly, there’s no index. Otherwise a superbly illustrated and comprehensive overview reference book for all fans.

The most powerful book in the universe!
A fantastic book which covers tons of characters, creatures, locations, vehicles and more. Has lots of titbits of information to do with the comics, cartoons and toys both modern and vintage. This is very comprehensive and will become your go-to book for anything Masters of the Universe related.

Massive Masters Tome!
This book is brilliant. For a start it's huge and has more detail than you can shake a Havoc Staff at. A perfect toilet or coffee table book, depending on your personal preferences...
