Lights up my world
I've been using this little rechargeable bowl of light both as a stand alone light and with the philips bridge that I already owned. As a standalone light I like it, but I really love it once used with the bridge which allows me to unlock its full potential.Out of the box it's quite simply a beautiful bit of design. There's a lovely simplicity about it, it can be used either in tilted or bowl position and controlled via one button at the back if you are using it without a bridge. By itself you can use seven preset light moods and program it to turn off by itself. It's brighter when plugged in, but once charged you can use it wherever you want, inside or out, for a whole three hours before the charge runs out. It's a great centre piece for an outdoor dinner or relaxing bath side companion. The light sheds quite a large arc (to give you an idea of size the diameter is just above 14cm) and it's just really beautiful to look at as it changes subtlety through shades of blue or green or any of the 7 preset colours and the build quality is great. As I've already said using it with the bridge (NOT supplied) is a lot of fun. There are plenty of free apps to complement philips own which allow the lamp to become a disco light which reacts to sound and keeps time to the music, an alarm, colour changing mood light or to wake you up. There are, literally, millions of colours and probably hundreds of things you could use the hue system for. Via my phone I can turn the light on and off and adjust the brightness, matching the light to any colour I wish. All in all this light seems a step forward from previous hue lamps, especially if you have a bridge. The range seems quite good and I can pair it from upstairs with no issues and it hasn't dropped out when transported around the house, shedding light wherever it goes. I would remove a star for the fact that this is not supplied with a bridge but I think even without it this light is just a fantastic piece of stylish kit. It's a delight to own and just has a lot of potential. An indulgence maybe, but it makes lighting up the world however and wherever you want possible and it works brilliantly well. I love it.ETA - a while on from writing this, I still love it, so much so that I've bought a second lamp - it's well and truly part of my home lighting. It works with the new bridge and can now be used with apple home.

Brilliant colour output - Portable mood lighting - GREAT BUY!
This is Philips' latest entry in their Hue range. It's definitely one of the best in their recent range of wall-wash lights and ambience enhancing lighting products. Of course it's also easy to setup and sync with your Hue system.I already own bulbs, lightstrips and a bloom but wanted more around the room (especially when gaming). I'd considered the Iris before settling on the 'Go'. My reasoning is the Go has the highest lumen output between the three lamp-style products, and has access to the full spectrum of colours (incl. Warm white/Cool white)**So for reference, Go lumens is 300, Iris is 210 and the Bloom has 120**So what is the Hue Go?The Go is a portable and rechargeable mood light, it takes 1.5hrs to charge and will allow up to 3hrs use unplugged. Worth noting, if the light isn't connected to a Hue system - portable brightness is set to 40%, this can be overridden via the Hue app but will affect duration. Of course you can have it plugged in just like any other Hue lamp and enjoy 100% all the time instead. You won't be able to light a whole room with just one of these, but it definitely can get bright enough for one corner whilst your other Hue lights take care of the rest - can even go under a coffee table =PPositives:- Can be operated without Hue bridge, has a button on device for easy use. (Basic functionality without)- Portable/Rechargable can be used anywhere.- Amazing colour reproduction, much better than previous generation Hue products.- Super bright, lumen capability is higher than other Hue lamps (Not bulbs though!)- Light is dispersed very well.- Power cable can be detached to feed through places for neater lines.- Can be placed tilted or flat like a bowl.- Perfect size to have on bedside table as a wake up light.Negatives:- Poor power socket placement on device. Located on base so you need to have the bendy cable at an angle. This could affect stability but is NOT a deal breaker!- 3 hrs battery ok for me, maybe not enough for some.- Plastic build all over, the Bloom has ceramic outer shell.(**TIP: You can keep this plugged in with no degradation to battery!! Philips have already confirmed via their Twitter feed, so feel free to choose this over the Blooms)I absolutely love these Hue Go lamps. Highly recommended because you get all the benefits of the older Iris and Bloom lamps, with the latest Philips innovations to stay up-to-date!

I was surprised how good it was
I've become more than a bit addicted to my Phillips Hue setup and had held off on buying a 'GO' for a while. It seemed a bit overpriced for what it appeared to be and I thought I'd be better off with the lamps, iris and lightstrips. However I finally took the plunge and bought one of these - I wish I had gotten it sooner! This is probably my favourite of the bunch.First impressions were that it was smaller than I thought it'd be and was worried that the brightness when not charging would be disappointing. However waiting until it got dark and adding this to the mix - I couldn't believe how bright it was! On full brightness it's almost too much but it's impressive glow is noticeable whether it's bright or dull. It produces all of the colour wheel pretty nicely and can be orientated to face upwards or at an angle to accent a surface. Carrying it around is easy and it becomes so flexible - put it on the coffee table, put it on the bedside table, the kitchen.. take it to the bathroom! It just fits every job - I almost wish I had about 4 of them! The only downside is the battery life. The box claims 3 hours on a full charge but I feel I've gotten a bit under this. Either way it's disappointing when the battery dies and it needs to be charged again. It's not a big enough problem to dissuade anyone from purchasing, but is the main limitation of this light. That said it still works perfectly fine when plugged in, so it really just depends on how you use it.
