Q: How noisy is this supposed to be? Mine has a loud scratching noisy from the brushes, wondering if that is normal..

The sound you are describing does not seem normal

Q: Can you adjust the torque settings or is it fixed at maximum 220nm?

The torque is ccontrolled via the trigger (no sseparate dial) - very fast and easy to ccontrol though. A great tool which I use in a professional capacity.

Q: Will this work with older generation batteries

Yes I can guarantee it will as long as the battery are 18v they can be used with the old blue range up to the latest models u can even use the full range ie lithium nicad so on

Q: Any good for removing screws with damaged heads. Pozi or philips or even flat, that are stripped a little or lot, better than normal drill?

This may not be of any help, but just starting to become available as far as I know are Torx head screws, they are used quite a lot in the US already, they are far harder to strip out the screw head, because they are more like a female socket, similar to a allen scew/bolt, rather than a philips or flat head screw and so are becoming more popular here in the UK, lets hope it catches on faster and our manufactures make them more available, then this Ryobi tool will work with them.
