Reliable, easy-to-use wood filler with good value
I bought this Ronseal multi-purpose wood filler for general repair jobs around the house. It’s good quality and easy to work with. It applies smoothly, sets well, and sands down cleanly to a neat finish. For small to medium repairs, it does exactly what you’d expect without any fuss. It also feels good value for money, especially considering the quality and how far a tub goes. Overall, a dependable wood filler that’s easy to recommend.

Quality Product
A bit pricey but works well. Good match for filling small holes in wood.

Tidy, Long Lasting, and Easy to Score
I've used a lot of different wood fillers, but this is the best in my opinion. It is very easy and tidy to apply. Because it is a silicon based product it resists cracking. It even holds up well in floorboard gaps in most cases. There are some old school traditional wood fillers that people swear by. I won't mention any names, but they are more clay based products. I've found them to be messy, difficult to work with and they crack far too easily. This product is far superior to those traditional wood fillers. I wouldn't bother getting coloured filler because it never matches the shade that you need. Matching shades takes a lot of practise, but the biggest hint I could give is this: If you take a dye like "light oak" for example and you can create a lot of different shades of light oak depending on much dye you apply. It took me a long time to realise I could get near perfect matches by playing with the quantity of the dye. Second tip: Score the wood with the edge on your putty knife. When I apply this, I carve the grain into the filler with the knife. It makes the filler look much more natural, like real wood. I usually just continue the character of the piece next to it by "extending" the grain lines. With a little practise and a lot of patience you can make this product look exactly like real wood. Tip 3: When filling floor gaps rub over the filler with the palm of your hand, left right and up and down. It will help ensure the excess is eventually worked into the crack even though it may not have initially been deployed in the right location. [Using the fingers doesn't work nearly as well, needs be the palm] Tip 4: Make sure the dye is rubbed over both the filler and the wood. If it is applied to the filler only it tends to cause dark lines to build up where the filler meets the wood. This happens because the dye is pooling especially if your filler level is lower than the wood. So I always try to rub the cloth liberally rather than strictly adhering to the filler. Tip 5: oil or dye if necessary any wood that you've whitened by sanding the filler. Some repairs I've done look good, but are too white on either side of the filler due to he affect of the sanding. I usually rub linseed oil over the entire floor once finished. It just brings the whole thing back to life and makes it look like new again.

Rubbish product
I am not saying this is the worst product I have ever used but it is very close! Upon opening a brown water liquid would only come out. I put lid back on and attempted to squeeze the contents of the tube but still only brown water would come out. Nothing you could use as filler. I put lid on again and squeezed towards bottom of the tube were I could feel the thicker paste was and the tube exploded. I have now been left trying to use the thick paste out of the bottom of the tube whilst brown water substance leaks everywhere. I would normally just return such a rubbish product however I need to finish the job I am doing today so I am having to persevere with it. The pasta itself isn’t bad once you get to the stuff that is actually wood filler. I wouldn’t recommend a product in this type of tube.

What does it say on the tin?
The product could be OK but I did not like the packaging. The plastic tube means you can't see the contents. When I initially used this some semi-opaque liquid squirted out. I found it difficult to regulate the amount extruded from the tube because the remainder of the product seemed hard and inflexible. If I'd shaken the tube in the first place it could have been a different story but because it wasn't in the instructions and I was unable to see the lack of homogeny it didn't occur to me. I'm not sure this is any better than standard polyfilla. It's certainly more expensive than polyfilla. It is in a neutral brown colour if that's important to you. Overall, for the price, I'm not impressed.

Great wood/laminate filler
I don’t usually post reviews, but this filler is great! I needed to fill in a few small ships on my laminate and I am soooo impressed with the end result. The price for the amount is also great value! Initially I was going to get the same filler but twice a smaller tube from Woodies for €8! I’m so glad I got it from Amazon! I got shade Natural as the colour of my laminate is light sand and I needed something very light. I was quoted €100 to replace this laminate plank and I ended up fixing it myself for less than €5.
