Unbelievably effective.We have been plagued by ants for years and used the traditional ant powder, which was not very effective. These granules are absolutely fantastic. I treated the paths in the front garden, the patio in the back garden and every ant nest that I could see in the lawn.The ants vanished almost instantly and then a few days later the paths were covered in dead bodies. It seemed like the surviving ants were carrying the dead bodies out of the nests, or they were just coming out to die. Swept them all up and the next morning there were another few hundred bodies. This went on for a few days. The only downside is that her indoors moaned that the cat and the grandson couldn't go outside until it rained and washed it all away.I'm happy though, I can now sit on the patio with my beer and not be constantly wiping ants off myself.

To be fair it does say it's for black ants. All I can say is that all the ants ingesting my garden must be shaded of red 😀Seemed to have so.e effect as a French but the crystals on their own seemed to either be ignored or have no effect. Sprinkled a load into a nest under a paving slab and couple of days later they seemed a bit less active but not exactly dead. Using it as a drench seemed more effective but can't tell if it's the product or just they're just leaving because of the water. Experimented with solution in bottle left next to a nest. They seemed to quite like it and are still coming back 2 weeks on 😀To sum up, I assume it must work for some ants based on the reviews but I had no real luck. Back to the powder for me.

As much as I hate killing ants I also hate them invading my kitchen. It took me a while to figure out where the blighters were coming in but once I figured it out I laid out some of this stuff and the ants took to it eventually. They carried it back to the nest and by the following day they were all gone. You can't just lay this out anywhere and expect them to like it. It really needs to be in their path for them to walk over it and then take it. I haven't had any ants since and I bought this way back in July.Ignore the other reviewers who say the ants like this stuff saying it doesn't appear to kill them. The whole point is that the ants think it tastes nice enough to take back into the nest without killing them instantly, it then kills the lot of them and keeps them comletely at bay.This is a really good bargain and would last a long time - you only need a little bit. However, if you have pets or small children I wouldn't want to use this indoors or out as they may try to eat it. Instead it would be better to get the ant stations that have the plastic cover and keep pets in another room.

I bought this because I have potentially RED ants in my garden. They may be YELLOW MEADOW ANTS and I am more inclined to think they are the Meadow Ants after further research but I have been using NIPPON which kills them, but the nest simply seems to move and I end up with another mound somewhere else so I was looking for a 'nest Killing' product.When I ordered this it doesn't say it doesn't work against any particular type of ant, the picture clearly states 'KILLS ANTS & THEIR NEST' but when receiving the product it states 'KILLS BLACK GARDEN ANTS & THEIR NESTS'... Bad Scotts, update your picture and info please!I subsequently emailed Scotts for more information on this and whether it will kill RED ANTS, they replied:Good Morning,Thank you for your email regarding Home Defence AntStop! Granules.I can confirm that this product will not work on red ants.Unfortunately, we don't have a specific product that works on red ants.Kind Regards,Consumer Services AdvisorI then asked whether it will kill YELLOW MEADOW ANTS, they replied;Good Morning,So long as the ants have got a colony to go back to, then yes, the product should work.Kind Regards,Consumer Services AdvisorI like the fact they state 'SHOULD' work rather than would, but I have yet to test it as I see no further nests for me to apply this on yet - my garden is festooned with white patches where the Nippon hasn't been washed away yet, so may not even need it but I will update this and let people know if this DOES work against Yellow Meadow Ants.
