Quality Spade for heavy work
This spade cost £22 delivered. It represents decent value for a quality product that is not going to break in a hurry. Not given 5 stars because I believe everything is being overpriced nowadays. In this example, Amazon provided the delivery service via Prime & it makes for a fair deal. Enough said.

Built like a tank and as light as a glider !
I got this spear and jackson shovel to replace my spear and jackson number 3. The spear and Jackson No.3 broke it had a oak shaft with reinforced brass handle. Steel scoop with copper rim edging. However THE HANDLE BROKE OFF! Inside handle grip! A bit of the brothel there been molded properly into the embrasure and split at the underside rim. This replaced shovel isnfive star and built to last. Comes with a 10 year guarantee.

Very unwieldy & poorly finished.
Sucky quality compared to spear & Jackson of old, this is a poorly cast, badly finished shovel, the paint allows a host of what would never have passed quality control to fly on by. I was in the market for a new shovel, & whilst this will do the job its a needlessly heavy S.O.B. to wield before you actually lade it! ...manual labour indeed. One ugly mutant of a tool that I'm almost regretting buying, really sticks out like a sore thumb side by side the old one. Will likely now simply buy a new shaft for my old one & give this one away, ...just go's to show how brands decline!

Good Product
Great product and product did its Job, not complaints. Very well built and felt nice to hold, no blister after using it for at least 6-8 hrs constantly. The kids used it as well, so it was chucked about a bit and survived the day, still looks good. Great pay at £4 when I bought it.
