No it eliminates the sound tube and it comes with a plug to cover it.

Q: Does anyone have a sense for how much additional power and tq the car makes with this intake vs stock and NO tune? Can find numbers anywhere

I purchased the roush cold air intake for my 2018 mustang GT and didn’t notice any real difference other then the sound think you need to buy the tune to really make a difference which I will soon

Q: Can I use this without the top cover to allow more air flow?

Kind of defeats the purpose of a cold air system. It pulls considerably more air than stock.

Q: Any HP or torque gain with this? Or even mph?

Maybe small amount of both. But faster acceleration and throttle response. Include a tune for more gains. This is with any cold air intake.
