This rice cooker is brilliant. perfect rice everytime. My only mistake was to present it to the other half as a Christmas gift. BIG MISTAKE. No matter how well intentioned you are, your significant other (not a bloke obvs) will not appreciate it's functionality, it's low cost, it's ease of use, the brilliant results. Because guys this is NOT in Christmas pressie territory. You may as well book yourself straight into A&E.. Any other time of the year say "Look what I bought us for the house." and give her the rice cooker, you will be a hero. But for the love of God and all that is holy it's not a Chrimbo pressie.

This made lovely rice, though I had to use 2 cups of water, to 1 cup of rice. It made delicious rice, which wasn't wet at all. Maybe it's because I didn't soak the rice first? It keeps all the flavour in. It's a great veg steamer as well.

Although it appeared not to work initially due to placing a on and off switch in an inconspicuous location when traditional rice cookers don't have one it worked great once I discovered the almost not necessary on/off button. Anyone who has had a traditional Japanese rice cooker where they originate know the rice has two mechanisms to start the cooking element one is the pressure circle in the inner pan and the other is the push down full power mechanism on the front of the pan. Having said that the rice cooker works well and with the glass lid I can see the state of my rice easily so overall I recommend this rice cooker

All I can say is I wish I bought this earlier. I was always reluctant about getting a rice cooker, thinking I don't need but I'm glad I stopped listening to that little voice. The quality is superb, easy to set up and it's made my rice making simple and I get to experiment with lots of ingredients. The rice comes out fluffy. The size is a bit big for someone who lives alone but I don't mind it really. I would rather it's big than buying a very small one. Overall, I love everything about this rice cooker. 🥰

The Russell Hobbs Electric Rice Cooker & Steamer is a reliable 5-star performer that consistently delivers fluffy rice and perfectly steamed vegetables. The 1.8L capacity is great for families, and the keep-warm function works exactly as it should without drying out the food. However, in real-life use, the water level markings inside the bowl are almost impossible to read once you actually start adding water and rice, making them pretty unhelpful for precise measuring. I’ve found it’s much better to stick to the included measuring cup and your own ratios rather than relying on the internal markers. If you can get past that design flaw, it’s a solid, hard-working appliance for any kitchen.

Bought in September 2025 it is March 2026. The non-stick coating is already peeling off making it unusable. I wrote to Russell Hobbs as linked on the Amazon app. They say sorry can't help. Probably not the rice cooker you should buy as it's rubbish and they offer any support for their faulty products. Buy a different one or get stuck with garbage like I did.

Steam is perfect for vegetables and makes perfect rice with easy on and off settings easy to wash and easy to store away would recommend to other people, all in all a very very happy replacement for an old rice cooker

Actual product worked well and don't really have any criticism. However only lasted around 2 years before dying, so potentially something to keep in mind over some of the more expensive offerings
