Kensington Combination Portable Laptop Lock

Great product, prefect for working in libraries
Great product! I have quite an old macbook pro (from 2015) and it fits perfectly. The cord looks like it'd be quite tight and limited, but it's really stretchy and 'soft' so allows movement.I use it at my university library and it's really great for knowing your laptop is safe. Only works with built in / fixed tables or surfaces that can't be lifted off the ground though. On a normal table, for example, you could simply lift up the table and slide the wire off the leg.

Not very secure
No, I'm not a retired (or current) thief but the security of this lock is very dubious. Using an old schoolboy trick combining closed eyes and feel I managed to unlock this on my second attempt! To make sure I wasn't somehow subconsciously cheating I asked my son to set a new combination that I didn't know, then unlocked on my first attempt. A key version would be much more secure but less convenient. I just hope that should anyone break into my house they didn't go to my old school (no it wasn't an approved school!").

Great product, even better in the flesh than in the pictures!
I ordered a Kensington lock to protect my MacBook Pro. It fits snugly in the Kensington lock slot on the right hand side of the machine, in front of the disk drive. The rubber seal around the contact area between the lock and notebook body protects it from scratching and noise. The combination is easy to use and remove and I've had absolutely no problems with it. I really do like the coiled cable as this creates more space by removing all that excess cable that you often won't need. Since I use my notebook mainly in my room on my desk in a student flat, I like to keep it locked and this means I don't have to lock my door when I exit my room for a short while because I know that it can't be stolen since it is locked securely to the table. The coiled cable also makes it easier to travel with since it takes up less space. Also, the cable is perhaps a bit thicker than you might expect from seeing the photos, which is definitely a good thing. In short: if you're looking for a K-lock, commute or travel with your computer regularly, don't need a long cable...then this is the right product for you. Highly recommended!

Worth it to keep your laptop secure
Cable could be a bit thicker, i.e. larger diameter, then again it would not be so portable, but it is very very strong, and the lock is easy to fit and use, far easier I've heard than the regular Kensington locks that need alignment to lock, where this just clicks on very easily..as long as you have it fed through something secure, a closed gap of some sort, this will deter majority of opportunistic thief's and burglars. They really would need one of those industrial bolt cutters with 2-3' handles to cut this cable, and even then the lock would still be attached securely to the locknut in the K-slot, unless you have a tank like panasonic tough-book, removing it by force would do significant damage to the average laptop.

Useless pile of tripe
Bought five of these pieces of junk. They all failed - would not unlock. Had to get a locksmith to remove them. Totally useless pieces of junk. Avoid like the plague

Compact, decent quality lock
Very quick to attach/detach from laptop, code is changed by turning the screw on the end setting the new one and then turning it back (code must be correct to be able to turn the screw). I'd never regard a laptop lock as perfect security, the laptop is likely to be less robust than the lock but it's perfect for preventing opportunistic theft attempts. The one negative that I've found so far, the yellow strap is the worst piece of design I've seen on something that should have been very simple. Its fiddly, and cumbersome to open or close, I took it off, threw it away and replaced it with a velcro cable strap which is what they should have supplied to start with.

Laptop safety without any hassle
I bought this as a replacement of a traditional Kensington lock with key, and I have to say I LOVE this one. No more forgetting / mislaying keys, it allows you to set your own number combination, and it's easy to open with and without laptop in place.

Can be fiddly
When I can get the lock to properly engage in the slot on my laptop, it's great - but half the time I don't seem to be able to get that far! I find it quite difficult to slot it in properly so that the numbers can be turned to secure the lock. There must be a knack to it that I haven't yet learned after a few months of use...
