Does this watch have a light for night time

Yes it does, and it's excellent. Having the white face/background reflects the light more (I had the same watch with a black face and the light was nowhere near as good as with the white face), and I'm very happy with the watch.

How long does the battery last

This watch is really excellent value all round. Reliable, stylish, with an excellent 'see in the dark' feature. The battery will last at least 18 months or longer. I have 2. The battery is also simple to replace yourself.

Is there a quick way to move date on?

its very easy.  whip out your knob once & rotate.  don't double dip by whipping out your knob twice as this turns the hands rather than the date.

Hi all! How scratch resistant is this watch? I want to buy it for my Dad who is a keen gardener so it needs to be sturdy. Thanks.

Without appearing to be flippant, but that depends upon his style of gardening. If he tends fruit bushes or roses then it'd have a different challenge to tending seeds in soft soils. It's a great watch for smaller wrists (smaller bezel diameter) and withstands an outdoor working life (as I have) and I really like the velcro strap, the resin case is tough and the perspex type 'glass' is pretty resistant to damage, but obviously not as resistant as glass. If you want REALLY TOUGH go for the dearer Timex Adventure with Indiglo range (have a screen light built in for use in poor light) which has a metal body and thick glass lens. The Timex batteries tend to last about 5 years from new I've found as I have several Timex watches. Either way he'll be chuffed with the gift, they're all really dependable. Tip.....read the CASING measurements, then take a ruler and draw a circle in cardboard or use a similar sized circular item (vitamin pot perhaps) to replicate the actual size on ones (or his) wrist. For my small wrist I prefer the range of 38mm - 42mm (casing size usually includes the 'bulge' where the 'winder' knob is (my 42mm Adventure becomes 45mm when including the bulge...for instance) Hope that helps.
