Excellent mixer.
Can not fault this mixer well made and great value for money. I have used it to record directly to a Tascam DR40X and to a laptop running Audacity (connected via a Behringer U Control UCA222 audio interface) and have achieved excellent results with both recording methods. The FX are well worth having, I have found the majority to be very usable and seem high quality. The mic preamps are silent with high quality EQ's. A lot of Kit for not a massive outlay, recommended.

Great quality for this price
Great value, the sound is quite good too, if the power supply lead is not pressed into the mixer properly with a click the mixer and power block will heat up fast, as someone else has mentioned this issue before in there review, they might find that this is the solution to their problem 👍.. The mixer does get slightly warmish but found its not that bad or a major issue with the mixer at all .. Liked the added effects and the metal build quality.. Nice little mixer for the money it can't be beaten.

Mixing with the stars (all four of them)
Needing some more inputs, I bought this Behringer Xenyx mini-mixer as an expansion console in a studio setup that already had three mixers. I was a little concerned about noise in the mixer since the other consoles are very quiet (Studiomaster, TASCAM, and Allen & Heath), however I've found it to be almost transparent in the signal chain. That said, with a lot of sources to record I can select high-gain instruments to feed through the mixer and turn down the input gain to drop the noise floor anyway. As a consequence it fits very nicely into the existing setup. The lack of channel faders might concern some users since there's far less visual confirmation of levels using rotary controls, but then again it means that the mixer can provide 12 good channels in a very small footprint (in fact my Xenyx is propped atop my main console and isn't very obtrusive up there). The layout is reasonably ergonomic considering that everything is crammed into the smallest possible space. The channel control knobs are a good size, with the best channel control on the leftmost four channels that have XLR and jack inputs (balanced/unbalanced). The channel gain controls operate across different ranges according to whether a Mic or Line input is connected, and channels 1-4 have +48v phantom power for any condenser mics you use that are not self-powered. The first 4 channels also have the most comprehensive EQ.To the right of the first 4 channel strips are the channel controls for the remaining 8 channels, in 4 paired groups, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12. Somewhat confusingly the normally charcoal-grey pan controls seen elsewhere on the mixer are coloured blue (the colour of the EQ controls on channels 1-4) for channels 5/6 and 9/10. These paired channels lack any EQ, having just pan, volume and FX send controls, so are best used for sources for which you need no EQ (perhaps synths are best here). The effects are not bad, but also not especially remarkable (at least in light of the fact that I have access to dedicated effects units already). They could be used to add some audio interest to a mix but for me they have the significant drawback that the FX send is a mono bus, meaning that for the stereo channels the signal is summed to mono before it enters the FX section. This to me is a compromise too far. If I have a percussion hit on the left channel I really don't want a reverb effect that sits across the mix. I could compromise by recording such things separately, but then if I was going to do that I wouldn't need an expansion mixer! There are quite a few usable effects provided you are okay with the mono summing of their inputs. The unit comes with a good printed manual that seems to cater for the first-time mixer user, with detailed instructions about setting up and using the unit. The manual is also available in PDF form in their website, music-group.com. The PDF version is especially good for searching automatically for specific details that can otherwise be buried in a decent comprehensive manual such as the one for the 1202FXAs for the "British EQ" claims, well, with Studiomaster and Allen & Heath kit in the studio I already have plenty of lovely British EQ. The Xenyx operates on 12khz, 2.5khz, and 80hz, which feels very limiting when you are used to having parametric controls on at least the mids, and preferably also on the highs. The master fader is the only fader control on the whole mixer. It is decent and positive and gets the job done. The small LED ladders have too few stages to really get a fix on how the levels are behaving. I find them less pleasant to work with than the metering on my main mixers. The Allen & Heath uses old VU meters and the Studiomaster a long LED ladder with the same ballistics as a standard VU, something that makes these very intuitive to use. The Behringer 1202FX needs a lot more attention paid to levels due to its more primitive metering although in a situation where it may stay on the same settings with the same instruments on the same inputs it is probably less of a problem. To summarise, it's a good mixer at the low prices it commands. It is solid and should withstand moderate use on the road and last a good long time in a fixed installation such as for a small house PA, or for worship and other similar settings. It doesn't break the bank or your back, but neither does it mark a breakthrough in usability. That compact footprint hits the ergonomics unless you're using it as a "set and forget" mixer. In that role, though, it does very well. With the caveats above, I can still recommend it amongst its contemporaries.

It's the 1202 with Klark Teknik FX, and it works well
OK, this is our fourth Behringer XENYX mixer - we have the QX1002USB & 1002FX which work well for recording, rehearsal and live performance, and have recently bought the basic 1202 to accommodate the Ukulele Project that needs another four mike level inputs with EQ. This is the 1202FX that is like a basic 1202 but with the well-known Klark-Teknik FX engine built in.So we like the Behringer mixers! The noise floor is far enough down for us, and the headroom is sufficient too. The clean compressors on the QX1002 are a godsend for vocals, but be aware that the 1202FX does _not_ have compressors. Not even sure if there is a 1202 model that offers them. We usually use the QX1002 for vocals for this reason. So this is a vanilla 1202 mixer in that there are no compressors and no USB link - but it does have the pretty neat Kark-Teknik FX that works well for us - especially that 'Golden Plate' on #26. Phantom power and decent EQ for the mike inputs combines with pan or balance controls to set up the basic image and plenty of I/O for most eventualities we have encountered. It's worth studying a block diagram if you can find one. The basic 1202 diagram is helpful for this.Problems? Well, there's no power switch, and the power lead socket is not ideal. So we usually wind tape onto the power lead plug until it's a tighter fit, and plug the mixer power bricks into a dedicated mains power board with switches. Problem solved.Do check the detail spec before ordering, these mixers vary a bit from model to model. If the spec suits you and you are not attempting to create a full-on commercial studio, they generally work very well. The 1202 FX is particularly useful with our electric Ukulele requirement and the Roland GR1 & VG-88v2 etc.It works fine with most other musical sources, and we'd recommend it.

An excellent little mixer for the money
An excellent little mixer for the money. Some very useful fx for vocals and acoustic guitar - I use it with two SM58 mics and a Collings D2H acoustic plugged into a LD Maui 5 PA system. Sounds great and perfect for small to medium gigs. Slightly annoying power connector with a proprietary DIN plug but not a huge issue. Quiet in operation and does the job well.

:D con-ZEN-trate!

Behringer Xenyx 1202FX - 12 canali tutto in uno !

Nice general purpose mixer
Unlike most reviews on here, I am not in a band or need to mix my own beats. I had a very specific general mixer requirement: I wanted to be able to mix cable TV + 2X computer audio + phone music playback. Having one amp, I used to plug the devices into each port. Obvious example problem is not hearing computer notifications when playing music. After wiring it up using 1/4's to RCA or 3.5 as in the pic, it works great. I do not hear any obvious sound quality defects on either of my devices, no weird hisses or pops or echos. The adjustment nobs produce a smooth increase or decrease of the sound between the channels allowing fine tuning of volumes.I was concerned that there may be a noticeable delay in sound when watching the cable, but the speed appears good enough so that there is no noticeable delay for me.Would have been nice to have a power button to turn it off, as others have mentioned, however it is fairly common knowledge that powering off and on devices shortens the life of circuitry. It is the cooling and expansion that eventually causes the fatigue leading to premature failure. So I figure as long as the master volume is fully down, it will not working away eating power whist I sleep. I do not power down my network hub, or router at night and it does just fine. Still a power button would have been a simple option to add.
