Can I use this instead of ptfe tape when fitting taps on a bath/sink?

No. It's only to seal sinks, the modern way

I have just attached a connector onto my water butt, although it has a rubber seal fitted it still leaks water (due to the curverture) wii this work?

Yes it does, make sure you dry it off as much as poss first and wear latex gloves or it sticks to your handas like chewing gum! After about 3 months it seeps a bit but I just squidge it together and it stays good.

Can this be used under the sink around the waste pipe from sink drain ?

Yes. I used it around a shower waste nearly four years ago still going well.
