Normally about 1 day or until the next shower. I personally find that the fibers stay for longer on, when applying the hold spray afterwards.

Does it wash away easily?

Yes it does wash away easily with shampoo. Also it does not run if you get caught out in the rain.

Will this help cover up Alopecia holes in my husbands beard? The holes have grey thin hairs.

Is this as good as Toppik?

Hi I think so. It feels finer so I feel it blends in better, the colour is great too. My scalp is very sensitive so the Toppik used to make my head itch this one doesn't. It's a lot cheaper too. Hope this helps answer your question.
