An evidence-based guide to managing anxiety by understanding the neuroscience and applying practical techniques to "rewire" the brain and reduce fear, worry, and panic. Review: A TRULY EXCELLENT BOOK. - I cannot believe there is only one other review for this book as it is superb. One of the key reasons for its excellence is that it details the importance of the amygdala in causing untold upset to so many of us, and includes numerous strategies for taming this unruly part of the brain. It is so clearly set out and, unlike so many other books on the subject, succinct - no four hundred pages of verbosity and repetition here. I have searched high and low for just such a book which uses the most up to date neurological research with techniques, both ancient and modern, to give you the chance of achieving a state of resilience and equilibrium amid life's trials and upsets. I have bought a fair number of titles along the way but this is the one which, for me, stands out from the others. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Review: Fantastic - Understanding the science behind Anxiety and how it works is explained very well in this book, its easy to read and gives strategies for you to reduce your Anxiety, fear, worry. This book really educated me on Anxiety and how you need to think to change your life!.

Concise, informative, well-written - a must for the curious anxious person
I bought this book because it had 4 strong reviews, and although I never write reviews, i feel compelled to add a fifth! This is an EXCELLENT book, and I thank the other reviewers for recommending it. It is thoroughly well-written and utterly useful. i've gone out and done some of the things I fear this very weekend, and although I've a long way to go (I'd never be daft enough to get on a plane, for instance!), I feel now really well-informed about what is going on in my mind and body, as well as what to do about it. This is the book I would recommend to an anxious person, without any hesitation.

super book - buy it!
This book was perfectly pitched in that it explains how the brain works to produce anxiety in a way that is accessible but not patronising. It explains the difference between cortex-induce anxiety and amygdala-induced anxiety in a way that will make you realise your brain and body are not only trying to do you a favour, but that there are ways to control them. If you struggle with physical symptoms of anxiety that you think are impossible to change, think again. This book clearly explains how to overcome them...and it works

Excellent book
I don't normally write reviews but I felt it to be a good thing for this book. I have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for over 20 years now and this is the first time in a long time I feel in control of it. The reason being is because the book gets you to understand it and why it happens and what to do when it happens. Now I understand it better I can adjust and know that if I have an attack it's a good thing as once my brain realises nothing will hurst me it will calm down and I can carry on as normal. I haven't even finished reading it yet but already I can safely say you won't regret this book it is a must have

Nit a self help book
Easy to read and understand. Very technical and a great insight in to why anxiety exists. It doesn't really provide any support other than the suggestion of how and where to get it.

This book will change your life
Superb book well written and researched an absolute must for anyone suffering from anxiety or anxiety based disorders. For further reading consider also "Stopping the Noise in Your Head by Dr Reid Wilson.

Great Brain "User’s Manual" that makes sense of Anxiety, PTSD & why one can't just think their way out of it. Helps remove haunting guilt & inadequacy, especially when ignorant people tell you to "just get over it" or “let it go” or "stop living in the past". You can finally understand why you just get stuck & how to work with it. I have read loads of books over many years, ever seeking a way to conquer the beast of Anxiety and PTSD and dealing with ignorant people who just dismiss it as “drama” and “self-obsession” and are dismissive and insensitive. This is a must-read book to help you understand the mechanics taking place in your brain and why you are the way you are! And finally have some self-compassion instead of feeling pathetic and inadequate for getting derailed by anxiety. ✅
