Very helpful purchase!
I tried to use a different book to solve a Rubik's Cube a few years back, but could never properly understand the layout or greyscale pictures in it. This book has clear wording with excellent quality colour images to help any novice learn the algorithms for solving the cube. I have managed to successfully complete the cube (for the first time!) with the instructions in this book and if I do decide to try different sized cubes it has all I need for those sizes too. Great little book for fans of Rubik's Cubes.

Great book for speedsolving
I found this to be a very good book for learning the CFOP speedsolving method. It takes hundreds of hours of practice but it is rewarding.Health warning: I recommend buying a speedcube because I developed wrist pain after a couple of weeks with an ordinary Rubik's cube. After switching to a speedcube - which requires much less force - the pain went away.

Almost perfect, but...
I've tried a few books on solving the cube. Most are really basic, and not very clear. This book covers the basic method very well, and also explains why the method works as it goes along (at least I assume it's clear. I may have the advantage of already knowing what it means). The only issue I have is a technical one: since I would like to read the speedcubing solutions whilst actually holding a Rubik's cube, the book would be massively improved with a ring-binder spine. That way I could actually put the book down without losing my place! This is a failing of most instruction manuals of course, but the first publisher to sort this issue would get my money.Update: After six months I have now used this book to learn the speedcubing technique, and without much hassle at all. Very clear instructions again, and I can now use the CFOP method to solve the cube in well under a minute! (49.9 seconds is now my average - I know: more work still to be done). I still had problems with keeping the book open whilst I read, but I got around this by photocopying the pages and laying them out on the table in front of me, with the added advantage of being able to arrange the solutions in any order I needed. Very good book, and I'm still not finished with it yet. There are even more advanced techniques I still haven't got to.

Working!
I bought this as a gift and the recipient is now able to solve the cube after less than a week with limited leisure time. The book is well written and presents the methods for solving the Rubiks cube in a no-nonsense manner, along with helpful illustrations. Split into a couple of major sections, it first shows the basic method of solving the cube, then moves onto the more complex algorithms needed to become a speed-solver. The owner of the book is very happy with it and it is clearly effective.

Complex read with degrees of relief
At first the book to me was a very complex read, as I continue to pick up the book to read, it has become much more easy to digest, but it continous to be baffling to understand. many methods do work, but some methods when stuck are not there. I don't now whether they are being misread by me, or they are reads for different methods. Overall this book does work as a guide, but for me personally it is a tuff book to follow. But I continue to read it and apply many moves and many other moves SOLUTIONS remain buried within the book or not.

Terrific
Loved the book, easy to follow and simple to understand.I completed the cube within 6 days of owning, having no experience what so ever and was consistently completing the cube within 3 minutes in my 10th day.The book provides 3 different sets of instructions for the 3x3x3 cube, each with different levels of difficulty and speed. It also provides solutions to the 2x2x2 cube and the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5. Absolutely BRILLIANT ! ! !Written by my 10-year-old.

Rubik cube solutions
Step by step instructions, well-organised and clearly illustrated. At least, for the bottom and middle cube layers. The more challenging third layer solution and its variants is accurately described but requires the reader’s very close attention to details explained in the text but not as clearly set forth in the accompanying illustrations.

A brilliant book for speed cubers of intermediate level.
Highly recommended. Algorithms are clear and concise, presentation excellent, quality of paper great. I have come across no misprints and the pages open up fine with no need for a ring binder. Maybe this product has been updated since the other reviews. This is the best speed solving book out there.
