Excellent value for money
I bought this router a few weeks ago. I'm not a heavy user. I mainly use a router for routing channels in board or squaring off edges for jointing. Also I don't use the guide as I prefer to set up a straight edge. I found this router very easy to use. The Plunge facility worked fine and unlike other reviewers I didn't find it sticky or too firm. The micro adjust on the depth guage did seem a bit over the top when the router arrived but to my surprise I have found it to be actually very useful. I found that spraying a little WD40 on the plastic base plate does make the routing action much smoother. I haven't used this router on a table yet so I'm not sure how easy it will be to fix it to the table. The actual foot plate of the tool is cast alluminium alloy and the tool seems to be reasonably robust in design. I only use 1/2 inch router bits and the collet seems to be pulling up fine on these. If you go on the silverline website you can get the guaruntee extended to 3 years. For product details. Use the 6 digit number on the top of the instruction leaflet (mine is 264895) as the part number. Use Luxembourg as the town and L-2338 as the post code. It took a while to work this out but it works and I now have a 3 year guarantee certificate (hopefully I'll never find out if it works)

Very keen price for what you get
Been using this router for a while now and for the money I can't fault it.Plenty of power, and that lovely gentle start which has got to improve the expected life of the motor as well as helping to keep the tool under control. Impressive build quality - compares very favourably with a Freud I once had. All the collets included - wow!Seen a few people comment about the spring being way too strong - I tend to agree somewhat, though have not found this to be too hard to live with....even though I am only a girl with matchstick arms - hahaha. If you're determined enough you CAN get this router mounted under a bench quite safely. It is possible to defeat the none-latching pwr switch - I leave it to you to decide how that is done...oh and you'll need to invest in a decent NVR switch too. If you like your fingers as much as I do, you'll also need to come up with a good cutter guard because this beast will mush you as soon as look at you. As a bench mounted tool it really starts to show what it can do - more than up to the job.Have yet to really make much use of the very fussy depth control assembly, but not about to knock it for that.Overall, I am thrilled with this router and don't have a bad word to say about it. 10/10

A mostly good Router rating
I bought this as I specifically wanted a 1/2" capacity router for doing heavier jobs like kitchen worktops. Its not a professional quality machine intended for day in, day out use but is perfectly adequate for occasional jobs. It is comfortable to hold, easy to adjust and generally feels well balanced. The soft start function is nice, although since you never start with the cutter in contact with the work anyway it isn't really essential. Maybe it just puts less strain on the high revving motor. The base plate has a plastic piece that fits with 4 screws, giving a smooth and non- scratching sole plate. It looks pretty flimsy and I can see that piece cracking before too long. Especially as it has to be removed each time you want to change the guide bush plate. It needs to be supplied with a spare, but it won't be too hard to make one whilst I can use the supplied one as a pattern. It comes with two guide bushes neither of which is 30mm - the commonest size for use with kitchen worktop jigs. I used the smaller one which measures at 21mm, giving a 4mm offset with a 1/2" (12.7mm) cutter. But there were two significant problems. The lip of the bush is very short, extending barely 2mm below the face plate. It takes a good deal of care and concentration to prevent the guide bush riding up over the edge of a template, especially if the template has slight chamfers on the edges, as mine does. The second problem is that the guide bush is poorly stamped out and when fitted it isn't exactly concentric with the cutter so that the offset distance varies as you turn the machine to follow your template. I eventually corrected mine by enlarging the fitting holes with a file to allow for adjustment, but only after puzzling for a while about some erratic cuts made against a straight edge!Despite these faults, it is a pretty good machine for the money and I certainly don't regret buying it!

Cheap and a little cheerful
I have a simple job to do and didn't need anything fancy. I took a gamble and got the used-like-new one for cheaper. The condition of the item is perfectly fine and like-new is a fair description. I deliberately chose the more expensive one coming from the Amazon's warehouse, and I am not disappointed. The router motor runs nice and smooth, but the plunging action is quite horrible as the springs are too strong. I couldn't find a way to get the springs out to either modify or replace them. So the best way for me to use the router is to pre-plunge it, then lock and use. Also there is no precision in the plunge rods. While plunging down, there is a chance the router bit might point a degree off center this way or that way. If high precision work is needed, I would not recommend this. For the job I need this router for, it is good enough.

Excellent router for the price
Bought this router to replace one I bought a few years ago as my old one was 1/4" collet and I needed to cut some kitchen worktops with 90 degree and 45 degree angles so needed a 1/2" long series cutter and therefore needed a 1/2" router. I had already bought a 900mm worktop jig as it was about as cheap to buy as it was to hire one and it was there for future. The same principle applied to the router, I didn't want to spend a fortune on a top notch brand as it would only be used now and again. I read the reviews on the Silverline router and decided to buy one. I wasn't disappointed, it cut the worktops perfectly and achieved superb joints. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to do the same as I did - all I would say is take it easy with it and don't try to cut too deeply in one cut. I followed the recommendations on the blurb that came with it and it was brilliant. Very pleased.

In conclusione. Considerato il prezzo, se tutto funzionerà a dovere, avrò fatto un affare.....
