I would suggest buying the separately bought wall/woodwork protector cups. This is cause there is double sided circles of tape which you use to position the wall otherwise and I can see if you needed to remove to decorate this could cause damage to a wall or wood. I do not regret buying the cups or the gate. I am a disabled older lady and managed to fit this no problem with no need to get the drill out. I can recommend this and its a very good price. .excellent quality for the money. I needed it to stop a dog using the stairs. Its high eniugh to prevent small children climbing over it. I can recommend. Its affix on my second step up, I can open it using both hands and step inside and close behind me with one hand easily. the opening needs one to squeeze in two buttons on each side of the latch then lift up the mechanism. As I am opening it towards me and it opens on the right that might be why I cannot open it with one hand. We bought this gate so we could work on improving his anxiety. It's a good height, he wasn't able to get over the top of it. As long as you put the little switch thing down at the bottom, it is surprisingly robust too. He can still see and hear us, we can help him out or just serve up food without being pestered.The only negatives are that it can be really tricky to use one-handed. It is possible, but when there's an excited dog trying to push past it isn't exactly easy. This is because the handle sometimes struggles to lift up, which is how you release the gate. The other negative is how fiddly it is to mount. You have to tighten four nuts to get it to stay in place. You have just a tiny little spanner they supply to do this. As we were fitting it to a doorway, this meant the spanner would either scrape the wood of the door frame, or just suddenly ping across the room.
