Product Description Lutein with OptiLut** supplies bioavailable lutein esters and zeaxanthin from Marigold Extract, a highly bioavailable, natural source of these two carotenoid nutrients and the most abundant source in nature. Lutein and zeaxanthin are the major carotenoids found in human blood, and are highly concentrated in the retina of the human eye. Lutein and zeaxanthin are also potent free radical neutralizers that likely contribute to the body's spectrum of antioxidant defenses. Great Product
I am using this product in conjunction with other supplements, bilberry, and another eye complex to help ease the pressure in my eyes, after a high-pressure reading during an eye test. I take 2 tablets one mid day and one in the evening and I can feel small improvements every day whilst using this product. Whilst it will take time to do its job properly, there were improvements within 3 days of taking it. My eyes are less tired, I can focus better and my eyes feel more moist. Whilst I am not saying that this product has done all of these things, I feel it is helping to contribute to less problems with the eyes. I am therefore happy to recommend this product and will update this review with further information as new tests measure the pressures.Update: Had a hospital test for pressure and it has dropped from 23 to 12 after 4 weeks of using this and the other products and the specialist was quite surprised at how fast it had dropped. I put it down to using these products.

Cannot evaluate
It is hard to know what supplements are helping.Sometimes you can tell, if you have a specific problem and taking the vitamin or supplement eases the problem, or take it then stop, if you feel worse again then it is most likely helping.Taking a pill to help my eyesight seems like a good idea. As i get older i m beginning to struggle more to see see things in focus. I am both short and longsighted now.I have taken the Lutein with Opilut for a month and just cannot make up my mind that there is any changes.I trust the Brand, as I have used them for other supplements. I have read since that this works best if taken with a high fat meal....so that is something i can try. Also it can be a preventative and for that reason I intend to keep taking the tablets!

Contain two of the three compounds essential for macular health.
I take lutein daily. The thought of macular degeneration scares the heck out of me. Lutein and its chums have been shown to help the macular. The macular is an area at the back of the eye, it needs certain chemicals to maintain health and if it isnt healthy you could end up losing vision in the middle, only being able to see around the edges. You should be able to get what you need from your diet but if you arnt sure, have a limited diet or are suceptible to degeneration then you may benefit from supplementation. The dose is one table per day so this is four months supply. The capsules are quite small (as supplements go) but they smell of paint! The ones i take contain the same as these at the same dose levels plus they also contain 10mg of meso-zeaxanthin. Ill stick with what i usually take as the effects have been shown to be better when all three compounds are included in the supplement.Easy to take and the levels the capsules contain are correct for them to work.

Investment for the long term
I buy quite a variety of food supplements and I really rate the Doctor’s Best brand. They always choose the best forms of active body-ready ingredients rather than the cheapest they can get away with. They’re also reasonably priced for the quality they provide. These Lutein supplements are suitable for vegans and very easy to take. Serving is just one a day so the bottle last 4 months.I take mine at night with a small amount of water and find it easy to swallow being a standard size capsule. There is no side effects that I can notice and it doesn’t affect my delicate stomach, even when taken without food. Each capsule provides 10mg of free Lutein and 2mg of Zeaxanthin.Lutein and Zeaxanthin in the macula are reported to block blue light from reaching the underlying structures in the retina, which reduces the risk of light-induced damage due to oxidation (cloudy lenses, retinal damage) that could lead to macular degeneration.Research has shown that the more Lutein and Zeaxanthin there is the eye, the less likely you are to suffer from age related vision loss, and could slow down the progression of age related macular degeneration (AMD) if you already have it.Nothing will happen overnight as it is more of a long term investment in protecting the health of your eyes but I trust that if any supplement containing these ingredients will work it will be these.

Here’s looking at you, Kid.
Eyesight is precious and for many people, something that is subject to an amount of inevitable deterioration in later life. However, unlike say cod liver oil capsules which are suggested as a preventative measure for wear and tear on joints, there is no current omega-3 level of ubiquity to the notion of taking lutein products as a precautionary eye protecting move. That said, there are apparently no downsides to taking lutein so purely as a precautionary measure, if you have current (or family related future) concerns regarding your eyesight, if you can spare the dosh, then why not? This pack contains enough daily dosing for four months, so on a cost versus potential benefit basis, it is not a massive amount to spend. Although it should be said, stress takes all kinds of tolls on various aspects of our frail human form, so planning ahead for all that could possibly go wrong and taking every possible pill and potion as a preventative might actually render you so much a nervous wreck that you reduce your own bodily defences and worry yourself into an early grave! Maybe get your eyes tested and assess their current health, because eye specialists can spot very early signs of potential future eye problems and reassure you about where you are health-wise and/or flag up potential general issues, not just eye-related.Because of the very fact eyesight IS so precious, a product like Doctor’s Best Lutein may be good for peace of mind, but you can spend an absolute fortune on pills to fight all future potential illness, so it will almost inevitably be better for you to get a general check-up if your health providers offer such a thing and definitely an eye test before shelling out on any preventative measures, so that you can at least be shelling out on the ones that your particular frail human form may need!
