Clairefontaine - Ref 193667C - Foam Board (Pack of 5 Sheets) - A3 (420 x 297mm) in Size, 3mm Thick, Light & Stiff - Suitable for Decoration, Framing & Model-Making, White

These foam boards were suggested for a bag that I am making to use as a base. They are exactly as I had expected but come in various thicknesses. For me, I will probably be doubling up to give more reinforcement for the bag base but I am happy with what I received and will update once I have actually completed the bag. So far so good.

Have only just started but already I'm liking this form board for making a roughly 1:50 scale model of a two storey house. The model base at this scale is just under A4 size so it fits nicely and 3mm scales to 150mm (15cm) wall thickness which is just about right. The board is stiff - I worried that I might need 5mm rather than 3mm but even 3mm is "rigid" for this. My preferred glue is UHU POR which is "foam safe" and makes solid, sturdy bonds.

This foam board is good and sturdy. I used it to mount a cross stitch by pinning into the sides and it worked brilliantly. The edges of the board were a little damaged, hence my four stars for the packaging; it is only shrink-wrapped and could possibly benefit from some cardboard around the corners to add more protection. This was not a problem for me because I was trimming the edges off anyway, but if you are needing a perfect A4 sheet then it might not quite be good enough.

Fast delivery, well packed. Ideal product for my purpose in creating lightweight boards for prototype games. Excellent when adhered to card to prevent indentations by overenthusiastic play-testers.

We brought these, as we had asked a local company to cut some foamex for us. The edges were awful that they cut. These boards however are perfect. They are really well presented and we couldnt ask for anything better.

I used the foam board as the base layer for model railway buildings, it is not very rigid and will bend if you apply too much pressure when cutting

really helpful in folding clothes to an A4 size which helped in basic naval training. quite weak though
