I wanted a digital thermometer to experiment with making confectionery, and this has ticked all my boxes.-ConstructionThe thermometer seems sturdy, I have used it a couple of times now and it can definitely stand the heat. As the clip is not fixed to the thermometer, it clips comfortably to any sized pan, and the guard provided keeps any splashes away from the electronics.-Preset TemperaturesThe thermometer is preset with the temperatures you want for working with sugar, and you can scroll through these by just pressing one button ('mode'). This makes life easy, no programming required and you don't have to remember the temperature of the stages (soft ball, hard ball, etc.). It starts to beep as the set temperature is reached, so you can take your eye off the gauge safely without burning the sugar.-ConclusionIf you are looking for a reliable, well priced candy/sugar thermometer, this comes highly recommended! It did take a while to get here from America though, and the tracking number provided didn't work. This wasn't a problem for me, and it came within the (generous) time window given, but if you need something urgently then this might be worth bearing in mind.

I love this thermometer. It is such a convenience to be able to suspend the thermometer in the pan and have an alarm go off when it's ready. Save loads of time. The alarm gives you a warning when the mixture is near the transition temperature so you have time to get ready to move on with your recipe without overcooking. Easy to clean.

A little present for the wife to help with macaroon making, seems to work a treat, the alarm function is useful as is the bowl clip. Macaroon quality increased ! A slightly larger display would earn it the extra star.......Longevity ? well only time will tell.

This thermometer is designed for use in straight sided pans in liquid sugar or other liquid food stuffs. Yes you could stick it into a side of meat also but it is a little fiddly with the pan holder on the side (it sill slide off if you need).Main things of note:1) As stated above it's primarily for sugar so it does have a high temperature point but it doesn't go above 200 degrees celsius.2) It's designed for straight sided pans (I've had difficulties with any curved pans)3) It has a temperature alarm but this isn't super loud so don't expect to hear it in another room etc4) The display and buttons are basic but relatively easy to use even for most un tech savvy minded

I looked at a range of products on Amazon and elsewhere and eventually settled on this based on specification and previous reviews. It actually works out pretty well with preset alarms or custom alarms you can set coupled with the capability to attach to a saucepan so you can focus on whats going on in the pan. Recommended.

Good item, easy to use, alarm sounds when at set temperature. Value for money .

I don't do reviews on reciept of items unless they're nothing like ordered, otherwise what is the point "I ordered it, it arrived and was what I ordered". Most importantly for me is the longevity of the item and this has failed almost 12 months from the date I recieved it. The thermometer is no longer working. I have replaced the batteries with no success. So, it worked for 12 months and worked fine, I did end. Up wantingfor an alarm as the temperature dropped to a certain point but it worked fine. Now it has stopped working and I won't be replacing it with the same item as I don't aspire to being someone who buys stuff to throw away and replace without any regard for the wider impact.

A very good thermometer if the parts it came with lasted. The thermometer itself is very good with an easy selection of the type of fudge, toffee etc you are making with a nice alert when it’s getting close to temperature and another when it reaches it.However the metal clip snapped within a month and the chrome protector which protects the thermometer from the heat will not stay in place without the clip.Also when the clip wasn’t broken still found it hard to keep it in a low enough position for it to keep the temperature gauge from touching the bottom of the pan.

Per noi amanti del fritto perfetto, della canditura perfetta, a prova di chef e per non sfigurare con le amiche,che sempre cucinano meglio, questo termometro è perfetto. Facile da usare, con un'asta molto lunga, che può essere usata manualmente evitando di scottarsi. Utilissimo il gancio che permette l'ancoraggio del termometro alla pentola.Misura bene la temperatura ed ha il vantaggio non da poco di avvisarti quando stai per raggiungere la temperatura impostata. E anche facile da pulire e da riporre:c'è un astuccio, con su le gradazioni ottimali per fare un buon arrosto, o cuocere qualsiasi altra pietanza, nel quale possiamo alloggiare il termometro dopo l'uso fino al prossimo utilizzo.La merce è arrivata come da piano di consegna.

easy to use and it has a protective guard so the heat off the burner doesn't affect it. Perfect for all my frying and cooking. I have also used it to check my roast in the oven.

Did temperature test in boiling water. Temp set to 212. Warning went off as it should at 209 degrees. Mine does not screech loudly as another reviewer said and it flashes red light as it should. My sauce pan has a lip and the clamp held fast..no movement.Screen did not go black at this temperature (212). Haven't gone higher. Screen is small for those of us with not so good eye sight. I just turn this around so I can see the screen better. I think this works better in a little taller pan.TIP: If the probe slips in the holder just bend in the part underneath where the teeth are that holds the probe. It tightens it right back up. Then push the probe back in to the holder. Now it's nice and tight. Pulling the probe in and out when cooking/cleaning stretches the teeth part. Easy fix!!
