Very good, just not 5 star
Does the kid and I would still recommend

Nicely built rack, but could use a couple of small design tweaks.
I received the rack yesterday and took it on a 53 mile ride today. The rack worked out well: it did not rotate on the seat post, and it held the DX Trunk Bag perfectly. The Type E beam rack is the right size for a Specialized "medium" frame size; it should work as well on similarly sized frames from other manufacturers also. I have mine all the way down on the seat post, and there is ample clearance below the rack for the rear tire. While attaching this to my bike and taking it on a test ride last night, I discovered that when my left leg was at rest, the quick release lever was rubbing the inside of my thigh. While pedaling it was fine, but I worried that if I made frequent stops, it would start chafing. I could feel the other side slightly as well. I tried raising the rack higher, but that made no difference--it just rubbed at a higher point. I moved my seat slightly forward, and that did not help much either. What I do now is point the quick release lever almost straight up. It is not ideal, but since I do not want a permanently installed rack, this will do fine for now. There must be some other way they could design this system so it might not rub so much.I will admit, however, that after having taken it on a 53 mile ride, I never noticed the clamp, but I was also pedaling most of the time. During the ride, the rack never shifted once. I did not have the bag loaded too heavily, but the rack felt very secure.Getting that quick release lever closed is a chore, especially the first couple of times you use it. The rubber shims needed to be "set" properly. What I did was put some light oil on the underside of the quick release lever where it hits the cap it tightens against, and that helps slightly. Still, if you want your rack to stay put, you really need to crank down on that. I don't see how an allen wrench can help, as with mine, the quick release lever rotates if you try to turn the bolt with the wrench.Despite those little issues it is a well made rack, and the DX bag snaps in nicely. It is stronger than it looks, but do not exceed its weight limit. And use it only on a metal seat post--I could see it crushing a carbon fiber post easily.

Great, but limits pack(s) you can use with it
This rack is great - extremely easy to install and take off; sturdy; tough. The only drawback I can see is that you're limited to also buying a Topeak pack to go on the rack. That's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Easy install. The “V” works perfectly on 29 inch mountain bike.
Purchased the “V” model of this bike rack. Easy to install - just follow the instructions or go to YouTube videos - with the provided rubber inserts. Lever lock once adjusted allows for easy on-off of the rack. The “V” model is the one to get for 29 inch mountain bikes.I installed this unit on a older Cannondale mountain bike circa 2004. Fit perfectly. Added the MTX D trunk and modified a 12 inch milk crate with the MTX mount. Excellent system for touring/day trips using the D expandable trunk case. I use the modified milk crate on the mountain bike to hold tools, irrigation parts and supplies in our vineyard up and down the rows. Works great and saves me walking time.Hey - it’s an old mountain bike! No more technical trails, just vineyard rows! Still great fun and exercise.

Great rack
Easy to put on and remove. Attaches firmly, no bounce. Wish it were a little lighter.

Good concept and design idea
Good concept and design idea. However, it positions too high on my Treck Domane SL5. It would be nice the position of the shelf can be adjusted based on the different bike configuration.

on selecting the right frame version
The mount looks great and works great with the Topeak bags that are designed for it. I bought the side frames also because I got the EXP bag with panniers. The rack mounts pretty fast and easy to your seat post and the frame supports also go on pretty quick. I also put the MTX fender on, which I wasn't sure would go on with the pannier frame. It all integrates perfectly. I am going to post a picture soon. Make sure you put it on tight and realize it is really a commuter rack. If you are using it while hitting rough trails on a mountain bike expect it to shift around some if you have much loaded on it. As for frame selection I chose the A frame and it was an incorrect decision for me and so exchanged it for the V. I was afraid the V frame would sit too close to my tire with the fender on so I opted for a high set up. You should try to mount it low so as not to raise the center of gravity or battle the weight of the filled bag. The reason for the A frame is if your mounting it on a small bike with a low seat with little clearance from seat to tire. The equivalent of a BMX bike. The E frame should work for a lot to play it safe including road and mountain bikes. The V frame will work on quite a few as long as the tire isn't too big. I have a 26" mountain bike tire and it sits a few inches from the tire. Oh if you have a wedge under you seat you can probably keep it on but it is a tight fit. So far I love the look and other than one incident of it shifting have loved the performance. Good looking bike rack
Looks well made with a quality feel and very secure fitting. Have mounted a heavy 3.6kg battery on it for my electric conversion. Seems very sturdy.

Great post mounted rack
Great post mounted rack. Watch out though as it doesn't come with the sides so if you want to use the sides of a bag you have to buy the optional side panels (only about £15 though). The bags are easy to fit and secure. Highly recommended

Mal sehen...
