Good, Cheap and Does the Job

Bought to square off 3 newel posts. Did the job quickly and effectively. The screw holding the blade is plastic and the tool body is bending where the blade screw is, but at just over a fiver, I'll treat it as disposable anyway.

Had to plain a little of a door and didn't want to spend big for a small job. This worked perfectly, easy to hold and sharp rasp type blade. Due to its compact size it can glog up although easy to clean out. **Recomend light smooth and log stokes for and even finish** Overall good value and recommended

OK - first up, I'm not a competent tradesman, so this review is based from an amateur DIY'er. When I say amateur, I use that in the loosest sense of the word. If it's something I think I can have a go at, and not have to spend hundreds of £'s on a tradesman to fix afterwards, I'll give it a crack. So I got this in the hope of shaving about 1-2mm of the side of a door (in one section?, as it was sticking when closing (had warped over tome). In terms of performance, it was in the middle ground of a sander, and a proper planer. It probably would have taken the desired amount off - but it would have taken some time to achieve. Don't get me wrong though, it was big enough to do the job, and was really comfortable in the hand, but just not as effective as hoped. Blade was really easy to change with a simple screw (i know this a inreleased it to get it out of the packaging). Overall I think this is probably really good for light applications, but just wasn't fit for shaving 1-2mm off a door quickly.

Now that the colder weather has hit our bathroom door had swelled up slightly meaning it was hitting the doorframe. To say I am NOT a confident DIY'er would be a massive understatement so the thought of tackling it myself was giving me anxiety! After a bit of research online I found this 'rasp' solution meaning the door could be shaved down insitu. I read that a rasp was a better solution as a standard plane would get caught on the end grain. A couple of days after arriving I plucked up the courage to give it a go. I only wanted to shave a couple of millimetres off as once the colder weather goes the door will unswell (is that a word?) so I didn't want to be left with a big gap! I got to work with what is essentially a mini cheese grater! It is more than sharp enough to get the job done. I had shaved off enough for the door to open and close with out hitting the frame in no time. A brilliant quick and easy solution which has me questioning why I was so worried! Don't forget to repaint anything you shave off to protect the wood from moisture absorption, which helps prevents swelling, sticking, and rot!

The bathroom door at my daughter's place was badly misshapen to the point where it was pretty much impossible to close it - and if you could force it shut, there was a good chance you'd never get it open again. A basic rasp/plane like this is ideal for the job - it is lightweight, easy to grip, and easy to use, even for my DIY-phobic eldest! The door was sorted in a few minutes, and she was impressed with her own abilities - maybe next time she won't need to ask dad for help! It's a simple, entry level tool, but it does what it's designed for and does it nicely.

A little flexible and the handle is painful in hand for extended use, but overall it get the job done well enough.

I needed to shave off a little from a warped interior door and smooth over some filler. This little thing handled those jobs perfectly.

Der doch eher kleine Hobel funktioniert sehr gut, die Farbe ist auch sehr schön. Kanten werden mit ein paar Zügen geglättet. Ich verwände ihn bei jeder Platte da die Kanten einfach sehr sauber aussehen und es sehr schnell geht. Der Karton wird ab und zu nicht mitgeschnitten dann bilden sich kleine Papier Fransen welche aber leicht zu entfernen sind.

Articolo interessante, fa molto bene il suo lavoro, più che una pialla è una raspa ma consuma il legno una meraviglia creando dei piccoli riccioli, molto efficace. Ero un po’ scettico ma devo ricredermi, tanto è vero che ne ho comprata un altra e lame di ricambio.
