Tried and tried with these rods and they wouldn't melt. Spent about minutes heating my 3mm aluminium with a map torch and nothing except messy rubbish.Spent a bit more for Durafix rods instead, 5 mins and the jobs done. Save yourself the hassle and get a more expensive option, buy once cry once.

If you are planning on joining anything more than 2mm thickness, or larger pieces of alu then these are no good. For the smaller pieces, insulating the alu from any steel surface/clamps that will wick the heat is key, ensure you heat the Alu work pieces up until they look like the surface is about to melt then run the stick along the gap but with the flame removed. Not easy to do and not up to the job for what I was trying to achieve with thicker and larger metal (3mm).

Used these rods on a brass car radiator,in fairness the rad was 30 years old an quite thin,so I tried to mend a pin prick hole an with enough heat on the hole to melt the rod ,the hole just got bigger,the rods worked on other stuff in practise runs but not on my rad,that said I was impressed on what they could potentially do in the hands of a professional.

These we're great, used with Mapp gas and melted really easy. Brush with stainless steel wire brush first and wipe clean with Acetone. Not for structural or pressure vessel's but great for joining things together or patching.

I bought this just to see how strong and easy it is to use . I did a test weld with some 6mm plate and aluminium box section , I let it cool then tried breaking it in a vice with a hammer and the 6mm bent but the weld held up . Definitely a good product

Aluminium melts at around 660C and can be welded by TIG or brazed with low temperature rods (which is what these are advertised as).Low temp rods typically melt at somewhere between 360 and 420C.I tried to melt these with a brazing torch but they would not melt until I got close to 660C, at which point the base metal would also melt.I contacted the seller who, to their credit, sent me replacement rods from China but these also turned out to be TIG rods.There are well known brand name low-temp brazing rods and I'm afraid it looks like you get what you pay for - these are not low-temp rods.

This brazing rod does exactly what it is supposed to do. Good flow into capillary gaps and gives fillets even on the inside of joints where you have not actively added any material. Tested by brazing a thin walled tube to a thin plate (to make temperature a non issue). A flux active within 500 - 650 C was used. Proper flux, enough heat and practise and it works!Fungerar utmärkt med rätt flussmedel och tillräckligt med värme. Har testat med att löda en rörstump mot en platta, båda med tunna väggar (för att vara säker på att värmen räcker till). Snygg hålkäl aven på insidan av röret via kapillärverkan, inget material som aktivt lagts där. Flussmedel aktivt inom 500 - 650 C användes. Rätt flussmedel, rätt temperatur och övning så fungerar det!

è la prima volta che ho usato questo tipo di barre per saldare assieme due pezzi di alluminio mi sono trovato bene il prodotto funziona benissimo, io ho unito dei pezzi con spessore di soli 2mm, credo che siano un pò al limite cioè troppo sottili perché basta poco per fondere anche l'alluminio stesso o quantomeno deformarlo, credo che con spessori maggiori il risultato sia migliore, però il prodotto funziona a dovere sono sodisfatto.

il y a des doutes sur le fait que l'aluminium peut être soudé sans gaz inerte, mais ça vaut toujours la peine d'essayer, voyons quel rapport qualitatif sera obtenu dans ce cas, en tout cas pour moi c'est intéressant
