Very Very Loud, Very Very Easy to Blow
I bought this whistle as well as pack of two Trespass whistles from Amazon. This Life Systems Whistle is way way louder - it actually makes my ears ring after using - and is much much easier to blow - important factors in an emergency situation. According to the packaging this whistle emits at 108 dB At 6.2cm x 1.1cm it is slight bigger than expected but I think this size make it especially easy to blow. The whistle appears robust with a good strong key chain. Unlike the Trespass whistles, there is no storage compartment for matches etc. It is just a no frills whistle with no moving parts to go wrong. Of course, being made of aluminium, this whistle will not float but decent plastic whistles seem hard to find - unless anyone knows different? It is worth carrying a few of these in the car, attached to jackets etc. as an emergency can arise anywhere. I also carry a signal mirror which can signal an emergency situation over a greater distance than a whistle - assuming the sun is out of course! Once you have bought your whistle, just make sure you know how to use it. Six blasts on a whistle repeated every minute is the internationally recognised distress call, and 3 blasts repeated every minute is the recognised reply. Keep blowing until you are rescued. Also remember that blowing a whistle is much easier and louder than screaming or shouting!

An indispensible item, both in the wilderness and urban environment.
Taking its architecture from industrial design, this whistle should remain as ubiquitous and iconic as the iPod. Its elegant aluminium curves are complimented with parabolas and straight lines, and its features are definitely designed around the mantra that "form follows function". A powerful design statement indeed. As rugged as a 1940s brick, this whistle will survive a nuclear holocaust, and show nothing more than the odd scratch or piece of charred varnish. The whole whistle was originally a single cylinder of what I believe was an alloy of magnesium and aluminium, lathed down and machined using a CNC. Finally receiving a coating of protective lacquer. A process that creates an inherently near indestructible item. The shrill created is only made when flow rate is above 40% maximum, but is more than powerful to alert even those mountain rescuers who are the hardest of hearing. The tone created has its home at the higher end of the piano, and is more resonant than an American bull horn (or the much despised vuvuzela). As indispensable to the hiker as the firesteel, as loud as a foghorn, as reliable as Old Faithful, and as indestructible as an ingot of titanium.

Effective, Robust and Good Value
This is the first metal-bodied whistle I've used, having had plastic ones up to now. It is well made, lightweight and with a very effective sound when blown. The attached split ring makes it easily attachable to whatever bit of kit you feel happiest with: mine goes on the key clip inside my rucksack lid. So, a great product at a good price, and delivery was very prompt too. But I'll leave you with a possibly apocryphal warning about the guy who had his whistle hanging from a loop outside his clothing, in winter, and got it frozen to his lips when he used it... Like I say, probably a rural myth.

So cheap it’s a no brainer buying them..
Bought these on a number of occasions for myself - they hang on the zipper on all my coats and jackets - and family. The sound of a whistle carries much further than your voice for far less effort, if you were ever to get into difficulty on a country walk, or felt threatened in the town, three sharp blasts on these will bring anyone nearby to you. It’s a no brainer having these considering the price. Oh, and they’re pretty loud, and no moving parts - water and freeze proof.

Not a clean whistle sound
Handy size as a keyring but unfortunately doesn't have a good sound. Has to be blown fairly hard but has a off lower tone like a regular sport whistle without the ball that needs blowing harder. Reasonable loudness but not as loud as a regular sport or dog training whistle.

Really good.
Weighs nothing, shrieks loudly. What more can you want from a whistle?

Defective. Quiet
Defective. One is sort of ok, the second one barely makes a noise. Don't waste your money

Nice and light, a bit bigger than I expected/wanted.
Bought a few of these for my family as 'personal alarms' - they're cheap and light enough that every coat/bag etc can have one on them permanently. They're very light, and definitely loud enough. They're a little bit bigger than I wanted - I wanted my partner (and family) to be able to put these inconspicuously on coat zips, handbags etc, but they're a little bit too big for that. Build quality is fine - I wouldn't expect the anodizing/finish to last long in a handbag or on your keys. There's a plastic insert inside, which I'd prefer if it it was one piece aluminium construction, but it's fine for the price. - You can't choose what colour you get, so take that into consideration when buying. Bought for £2.20ish.

Disappointing product. It is not as audible as I expected from this kind of whistle and brand. I ended up choosing another "cheaper" whistle over this one, as the "cheaper" one is more audible - a gimmick looking one from Decathlon, that I was offered; which actually delivers a louder and more perceivable sound. I did test it with different people in different settings in the outdoors - I only asked the people to tell me which whistle sound stood out better: first or second; while only revealing the whistles and the order of testing afterwards; also, I did go place myself at some distance from the people and with some landscape obstacles in-between. The results were consistent: the one people had heard best was NOT the Lifesystems one. Once I was even told only one whistle was heard (large rocky obstacles in-between) and after clarifying and testing again, the same result: they hadn't heard the Lifesystems' - that was most disappointing and worrying! As that was not bad enough in and off itself, the image showed two whistles much suggesting two units, but it was a single unit package instead. As far as I remember it was not specified, at the time I purchased it, that it was only one unit - I could be wrong here. Would I buy it again? No. Not with this performance.

it says that the item is aluminum alloy but what is an acrylic one, and the sound of it is not even loud at all. The reason why I bought this is because of the good reviews but maybe I am just the unlucky one who ever packed my order did not look properly what they were sending compared to my order.
