Great little PS4 camera.
I’m reviewing the latest PS4 camera. The cable it comes with is about 1.5 meters so is the plenty long enough for my needs. The camera also comes with a handy camera holder that can be bent into a position where it will fit on a slim tv.The camera has 2 lenses which cover a wide area and a microphone in between the lenses. I’ve used it with just dance and it works great. It needs to be positioned around 5 foot high and you need to stand around 6 feet away from the camera. The camera holder also allows you to tilt the camera up and down which is great for capturing the area you are in. This camera is also required for the VR system. It’s value for money.

does what it needs to do and does it well.
Had no choice but to buy this item as needed it for the PS VR headset ( sony really should supply the camera with the VR especially when parting with £350 ) quality of the item is good...easy to set up and looks good on top of my tv...its not very big so it's not too distracting when watching tv...you don't have to have it sitting on the Tele all the time I just find it easier to leave it where it is instead of keeping moving it each time I want to use the VR. don't see the point in buying one unless you have a VR as don't really see what you could use it for but each to there own.

Expensive set up - but excellent.
Expensive set up - but excellent. The setup instructions were very good. Setting up was a doddle. I was surprised by the amount of cables but I assume due to performance this can't really be wireless. The Demo CD that came with this did not work correctly until I downloaded some updates. It is sometimes difficult to position this correctly on your head, but once in place you are immersed. There were a couple of games that I was not comfortable with (gave me motion sickness) but the underwater exploration was unbelievable. It is quite and investment but I feel it is worth it as long as new media continues to be created. You can also view 360 Videos on youtube etc.

Fiddly but great once set up
I bought this for my partner as part of a gift and it works well although it can be a little fiddly to get the right height and angle for it to suit different heights although it’s easy enough to move to allow taller and shorter people to get a great VR experience.

Not Fantastic, but does the job (VR-wise) Otherwise just give it a miss
There isn't much you can say for this PS Camera. It's the exact same thing as the older one so you're not getting anything extra if you purchase this and already have the older version. The image quality is grainy and the motion tracking is so-so (VR and Non-VR). I guess it does the job it's meant to do (for VR).The clip stand that comes with it sits nicely on a flat table, but was finicky when it came to placing it on my tv (tucking it behind the tv). I have managed to balance it using my the center channel speaker from my surround sound (will try to post pix of this later).I bought this to use with PSVR, and have written a full review of the PSVR on Amazon where you would probably get a better idea on whether you should purchase this or not.

Brilliant and important for PSVR
You need this for the PSVR model 1's but the PSVR model 2's already come bundled with this camera. Its great for facial recognition to open your playstation, it can be used for hand gestures and has a built in mic.It can be used for streaming and has to be used if you want to get a PSVR.(although you cannot stream and use the PSVR at the same time)It has fast delivery, it came in mint condition, it's easy to setup, it can be bent to fit on top of every tv and also could be bent into a stand that can rest down on anything.Overall great product with lots of features, I would not buy this if you don't plan on getting a PSVR. Please do some research before you buy one.

Better than the Playstation Eye?
The camera itself:The build quality seems great, the ease of putting to gather the adjustable stands and the construction of how to use and place it for several TV living room setups is/are ideal, and also prompting you to adjust your place pace accordingly for use in the games. The length of the cable the comes with it should allow for the item to either be mounted comparatively far from the console, and/or fit through the back of most AV Units.Having not used the previous squarer design i cannot comment on any improvements.Support and software (Not in VR):I found it interesting that when assigning a friend and his PSN id to a secondary controller it immediately switched to a camera view and began scanning the play-space for this biometric/face-scanning data, but because he was wearing the PSVR headset at the time, it could not identify nor pick him up as a face.Other than the Playroom app, which is free. i find it interesting that sony are not advertising or linking any first or third party support for the camera beyond the scope of PSVR. Which is a shame. As i got the PSVR and the Playstation Camera on the same day. And had previously downloaded the Playroom app, I decided to give it a go. While the PSVR experiences and demos were downloading in the background.Technically: i was surprised to see that they had not included the adjustable depth of field that was there on the PS3’s camera system, and that the camera resolution appeared to be incredibly similar. I/m not saying that for £40 i was expecting 4K resolution, but i was hoping for a resolution and/or ISO similar to that of a mid-range smartphone. My play-space needed some rearrangement [see context for further details] to be used with the Playroom, but i was guided through the steps well by the software.Camera In VR:I would suggest that you place the camera a minimum of approximately 4ft back from your play-space and test your range of movement to make sure that you’re fully extend both head and arm range is within the play-space, to ensure that you do not go out of frame. It would be advisable to do this in the screen where it shows you your play-space and asks you to remove any obstacles. As the "normal” calibration screen shows you a view of your room with the colours inverted and it is less easy to navigate. All of the games i have played have in some way asked you to calibrate the applicable motion controller(s) and headset prior to play, and due to mild tracking issues you may find that you need to do this throughout play. Many games support the holding of the options button to re-centre, but some it has to be done through menus. The “Experiences” such as Allumette do not always do this, so make sure that you have your area clear and are able to move fully move about in frame prior to launching. In Conclusion:I had to get one to make my PSVR work, and i am pleased to say that it does exceptionally well. With minimal latency or tracking issues. As a stand alone product; unless you are a massive fan of the few fully supported titles such as Just Dance it is probably a novelty that will sit there gathering dust. The level of integration within first and third party titles is currently [17th October 2016] disappointing, but as more people have to get the camera to support the PSVR, I am hopeful of forthcoming titles with camera support.Context:I have an comparatively unorthodox gaming set up for my PS4, rather than having it on a TV unit in the lounge, it is run through a TV mounted approximately 4 foot 8 or 56 inches above the ground, tilted and slightly suspended from the wall: The top point being approx. 19 inches from the wall and the Bottom being apprimatldy 11 inches from the wall,This allows me to sit at either a desk (approx 3.5 ft away), on on the sofa (approx 8 ft away)This play-space is not optimal for using the PS camera with the free “Playroom” Game(s)I have had friends with the camera for PS2, and immensely enjoying many of the mini games on that. I personally bought into PlaysationEYE early in the lifecycle of the PS3. Later i also bought and a single move wand, move controller and having very positive experiences of using this tech. Despite the fact that much like motion sensor functionality, it felt largely tacked on where used on all but first party content. But also have useful advice regarding play-space, such as avoid using with a cream carpet if you are Caucasian as the camera may loose track of your hand when using a game that requires you to interact by facing the camera to a floor.I have not bought any paid content for VR yet, and i am hopeful that PS+ users will be treated to something for free with the November Free games for PS+ Subscribers.
